I wish this were a factory option. Living in SoCal, we do not need the sun coming through the roof. Increased thermal efficiency and lower road noise are clear bonuses.
When my glass breaks (again), and I'm out of warranty, I'm all in.
Rivian stated that tank turning does not adhere to its "tread lightly" ethos. Whether that holds true or not, it would be a moot point if they simply limited the top speed of the tank turn.
Frankly, I've been in several way-too-tight parking garages where tank turn would have been a legitimate...
I faced a similar decision, having only one garage bay available: keep my Porsche 997 and get something else to support my outdoor pursuits, which will be parked outside, or sell the Porsche and buy the Rivian. I was thinking about the Ford Maverick for a moment.
I sold the 997 and bought the...
@TallCoolOne I haven't had any major problems with my R1T. My closest service center is Costa Mesa, one of the more overwhelmed facilities at the moment. They have been slower to complete work than I would expect. However, more service centers are opening all the time. In December, the Eastvale...
I own a Tesla Model Y, and it's a great vehicle. I do appreciate Tesla vehicles for what they are. My R1T was in for service, and Enterprise gave me a brand new Model X (not Plaid) as a loaner. I've got to say, the Rivian feels a lot more like a higher-end luxury vehicle than the Model X. There...
I have the CFX35 and put it in the same position, only I don't use a piece of plywood, and one longer ratchet strap thread through both handles does the trick.
The fridge is much more efficient in the cab, with the added benefit of me being able to access it while driving.
@defcon888 You will fit just fine as the tent is 83 inches long inside. It is bigger than it looks in these photos.
@Dark-Fx, I agree about the brackets. I do believe the manufacturer mentioned locking brackets coming and perhaps those will be a better fit.
Thanks for sharing. I should take delivery soon. I've been holding off on an awning purchase because I want the awning mounted to the roof and extending back partially over the bed. Looks like the awning will clear the side of the Air Cruiser based on your photos. It's all coming together!
Loads of R1Ts were overcharged with AC refrigerant, including mine. This means when the battery needs cooling and the cabin too, and it is hot out, the AC system can stop blowing cold or shut down completely. The service center will know to check this.
Kneel mode is also no longer working for me. I also can't return the ride height to auto. It was manually set to standard height at the time of the update.
Looking good and ready for adventure!
How are you liking the Kammok awning? I've got that one shortlisted but am concerned it isn't enough sun coverage to prioritize the quick deployment design.
