Tidal hifi plus pays out the most to artists, if people getting paid for their work is important. I’ve also found tidal‘s sound quality to be noticeably better than Spotify. I’m no audiophile but was surprised to actually hear a difference.

Wow... crazy results on the poll. Tidal and Spotify were neck and neck until everyone got off work yesterday and the mail in votes were counted. Then Spotify ran away with 63% of the vote, leaving Tidal near the bottom. Pandora isn't loved as I guessed and a lot of displeasure was shown with Amazon music.

I ended up going with Tidal HiFi, because I was already familiar with its ui and I can take advantage of the $5.99 monthly subscription. I'm also going to do the Spotify free trial to see what all the hubbub is about.

Thanks

I'm late to the party on replies, but mine is a mix of two…I use Alexa to launch a song from Tidal. For some reason, this gives me the same song as I'd hear on either Alexa or Tidal through the native apps, but it's louder across the board (without sound degredation).

From the angle of, "I'm going to find it myself," though, Spotify has the best implementation. If you do an artist search in Tidal, you won't see their entire discography, and there's no rhyme or reason as to which albums do show up. You can't tap the album image and go to the album to pick other songs, etc., so for a lot of the stuff, I'll hit up Spotify.

I have not figured out how to stream music from my phone onto my Rivian. I'm not a fan of any of those prepackaged streaming services

Make surenyour phone is paired. Select any music source or app on your phone... example : Pandora or Iheart radio. Or if Alexa is enabled on your R1, say something like " alexa, play KFI on iheard radio"... making sure the phone icon is pressed on your music screen.

Step 1- Connect your phone via bluetooth
Step 2- Start playing literally anything with sound from your phone

If only it were that easy. Nothing plays. Rivian had no idea so they just blamed my phone but the phone connects just fine in my Bolt and plays everything thru Android Auto. On the Rivian, the car rarely senses me and constantly tells me to pair my phone to use as a key. It will connect for phones calls but frequently drops them and never plays any streaming music.

I'd unpair the rivian in your phones bluetooth settings and delete it from the list. Start over from scratch. Had no issues playing music from my android or my wife's iPhone in both our R1S and the R1T loaner.

I've done that multiple times. Nothing. The Rivian sat in the SC for a week trying to figure this out. We're now at the point where my phone will allow me to manually unlock the car and drive. I can see updated info on the app and control features. Just no music or apps or Alexa. My drives are very quiet as FM radio by me is awful

I would not consider myself the major musicophile, because I've suffered enough hearing damage over the years, where I can't really decipher the difference in sound quality that well. With that said, I love music and have been going to concerts since my first one, a lot of years ago. I will give a hint to my age... I was in 5th grade and saw Red Hot Chili Peppers play on top of a Vision Street Wear skateboard half pipe ramp at the Irivine Brent Center. They weren't that big back then.

With that said, I'm in the middle of switching services, because I just realized we are paying for three different ones at my house. Crazy waste of money, which warrants that I trim the fat a little. With the new Rivian, I've noticed that a few of the services really suck and make my head hurt when trying to play music in the Rivian. Not to mention, the Rivian often goes haywire when my 8 year old yells from the cheap seats at Alexa to play "Don't Speak, by No Doubt"...

We Currently have:
Amazon Music Unlimited - Has a ton of music available and works great at home, but the implimentation in the Rivian is terrible. Can't see playlists and when it does show cover art, it is from some obscure "Summer Hits 2021" album, so I have no clue which album the song came from.

Tidal: I had HI-FI Plus for free for the last two years, as a free add-on to my phone plan. Music quality was pretty good, although I never really used it until we got the Rivian. Has 100,000 million songs, just like Amazon Music. It seems to have the best playlist support in the vehicle and the UI in the Rivian is pretty decent. My subscription just ended, but I can add a HiFi membership for $5.99 a month with a first responder program.

Pandora Premium: I now get this free with my phone plan. Seems like the most clunky out of the three I have/ had. I can use the app and search/ pick songs individually, but if I ask Alexa to do it in the Rivian, it only works like the Free subscription. Also suffers from the obscure cover art.

Spodify: I've never had it, so I can't really compare. This would be the most expensive option for me.

Not trying to start another thread that has already been done, but I did notice that most people talk about streaming services as an all around thing. I'm more concerned how it is implemented in the Rivian. That is wear I spend most of my time staring at playlists and listening to music.
why is tune-in not on the list? I usually do audio books or stream from my phone anyway...
