  1. Impatient Gen 2 owner. How do I force my R1S to download the update?

Rivian uses OTA campaigns. There are groups of vehicles in waves. They start with Rivian employees and then VIPs/influencers etc. Then it progresses from there. I don’t know if it’s VIN based or time you registered the app. You may be able to request being in an earlier wave but not sure...
  2. Rivian lays off 140 employees to improve operational efficiency for R2

$250k per salaried employee is rule of thumb for most cost/savings calculations, and budgets. For salaried manufacturing job in Normal,IL this could be lower but most spreadsheets won’t care. A department will be asked to cut a certain percentage and use a number like this provided by finance...
  3. Rivian lays off 140 employees to improve operational efficiency for R2

140 people is 35million savings. People are one of the most expensive parts of business operation. It’s common at the macro level. Sad and difficult at the micro level. Bottom line no one is guaranteed a job, plan accordingly.
  4. Rivians doing work

I don’t tend to post these often as the idea of a truck doing truck things doesn’t seem that remarkable. Like noting when a baseball player is actually playing baseball. But since our Amazon person drove up I decided what the hell.
  5. Costco and Electrify America partnering for select Costco chargers

Costco parking lots, similar to Walmart are often full and crowded. Taking existing spaces to move to charging will probably annoy ICE drivers. I’d like to see these charges have a more dedicated area similar to the gas stations onsite so feels like a more established commitment and path to...
  6. Edmunds' 2025 Gen2 R1T Dual Motor vs. Tacoma TRD Pro Off-Road Comparison

Emme Hall raced Rivian’s for 2 years for Rebelle Rally. She isn’t an EV troll. She lives them. Video speaks for itself though. She wasn’t trying to make dual motor look bad.
  7. Edmunds' 2025 Gen2 R1T Dual Motor vs. Tacoma TRD Pro Off-Road Comparison

Also would be great if they did this test with dual, tri, quad to see the difference each one brings to climbing.
  8. Edmunds' 2025 Gen2 R1T Dual Motor vs. Tacoma TRD Pro Off-Road Comparison

Emme Hall is a pro and has great experience with Rivian but I was surprised she didn’t air down. Seems that would have helped with traction in both climbing difficulty examples. I wonder if Rivian will consider adding lockers. At least in the dual motors.
  9. Report: NACS adapters will stop being free for new Rivian purchases starting later this month - per RivianTrackr

This is fine. I have used mine only twice since receiving last May. Because of the charge port location I don’t enjoy using NACS. I also never use my portable charger that came with the Rivian. Makes sense that both of these could be purchased separately.
  10. R3X & R2 Holiday Videos From Rivian

I won’t complain about wasting money on ads. But since you can’t buy either of these vehicles for well over a year I wonder why they aren’t promoting their amazing current vehicles this holiday.
  11. Many new RAN locations added to the official map!

Still nothing in Utah a charging desert with lots of adventure. Seems the big plans there have materialized sadly.
  12. What the heck is going on with the stock price?!

Today’s stock move was political chatter. Trump won presidential race, Elon backed Trump. Tesla stock is up 14%. Rivian as an EV company and perceived Tesla competitor is down 9% In general Rivian has an amazing product that is in demand. Nothing really touches the R1S, GM, Ford aren’t...
  13. Is Rivian an American Truck and SUV manufacturer? (email from Scout Motors)

Just moving the first segment to the end seems to be intent. A new American truck and SUV will debut, proudly bearing the Scout badge across their grills, for the first time in 44 years.
  14. Is Rivian an American Truck and SUV manufacturer? (email from Scout Motors)

It seems the statement is clear and I see no Rivian shade going on. It’s the first SUV truck bearing the Scout name page since 1980 when scouts stopped being built. (44 years ago) maybe not best worded but I don’t see how this any anything dishonest or slamming Rivian. BTW plenty of other...
  15. Moab Rimrocker Trail CO/UT from Pittsburgh PA

conserve runs great. The problem is it eats up the front tires much faster. I’ve had an R1T since Sept 2021. I use to do all road trips with conserve mode trying to get highest range. I didn’t rotate my tires often enough. Ended up replacing them after just 1 year at 20k miles. 20” ATs. Since...
  16. Moab Rimrocker Trail CO/UT from Pittsburgh PA

Have a great trip. I recommend only using converse mode if you need the range to make it to your next charge. Your tires will thank you later.
  17. Sacramento Area Rivian Club

Long time Rivian driver I don’t feel the seats are too hard. Perhaps mine are broken in about 30k Miles on this Rivian I like the roof glass but in summer I install a shade that I will remove in winter. Size is based on needs of course. I have R1T and find the truck extremely useful. If...
  18. DIY Tonneau cover

I have been waiting to buy the Rivian power tonneau cover. But because of delays needed something more immediate. I considered one of the manual options but the price seemed high especially since I still plan to buy the powered option. So I decided to just do DIY for the time being. I don’t...
