Well, TBH, the core use of a third row was the ability to say to my wife back in 2021, “You know, with two kids, a three row SUV would sure come in handy at times. And we should go electric and there’s this thing called a Rivian R1 coming out….”
So, it was pretty useful. 🤣
Any other R1 owners out there who are suddenly finding themselves thinking, “Do I really need that third row? I mean, we rarely use it. And this R2 looks even sweeter than my R1.”
Or is that just me? But I don’t have deep pockets so I’m reminding myself that I will probably want an R3 even more….
A lot of people, a LOT of people, want to be ABLE to off road even if they will never do it. There's something reassuring about knowing you could jump a curb if the zombie apocalypse breaks out.
Unless the iX3 is priced competitively with the R2 (note: it probably won't be; the iX is not), I...
1. That’s a great podcast.
2. The thing I like most about the Autonomy feature is that it makes it a bit safer to mess with the stereo or select a different podcast.
Personally, I prefer to think of it as the end of the beginning.
Hey, I love my Gen2 and I’ll be keeping it for a while. There’s only so much Rivian can do with the rapidly advancing hardware/software conundrum. Maybe we Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners will see some good improvements , maybe not. But...
On top of that, a lot of unpredictable things happened post 2018, including crazy supply chain issues caused by the pandemic and unexpectedly high inflation thereafter. $60,000 in 2018 dollars is around $77,000 in 2025 dollars.
Dare I say Rivian is doing a pretty good job?
I have not heard of this before. The right answer is for the garages to take care of cars. They charge enough that they could do this.
What to do? As an NYC resident, I plan to contact my city council member and other representatives to point out that ICON's policy hurts EV adoption and...
I keep it simple when car camping and just use the tailgate with an induction burner. I haven’t found anything better for coffee than to heat water and do a pour over. Now, if I can just figure out why my R1S smells like scallions.
I finally got a chance to drive my R1S with the latest update. I was prepared for an audio disaster. To the contrary!!! It sounds soooo much better TO ME now. Before I would have said the stereo was “okay.” Definitely worlds better than my old Outback but that’s a low bar. Now I would call it...
I would definitely purchase another Rivian. The cars keep improving. When I did have some issue (with my very early Gen2 model), I've been had good experiences overall with service. And it's a fun car.
My one caveat: Even though I think it's a good value and worth the price, it's still an...
Wait! Are they really going to make the front wheel drive mode into “conserve” for duals and give us aall wheel drive “all purpose” mode? Is that for certain? It would be awesome.
My R1S also lives in Sport Mode (also, a post purchase upgrade) but I have thought it would be nice to have...
I don't know that the materials are higher quality in general, but I have to say I love the aesthetic of the R1S. It's not just minimal. Minimal can be cheap and dull. The R1S is minimalist in a classy and pleasant way. Also, since you mentioned it, the wood in the dash is quite well done...
