Nope, I just carry a puncture repair kit but, in the interest of full disclosure, I donāt do any serious off-roading. When Iām on a road trip my vehicle is fully packed so if I donāt have room for a full-sized spare then I donāt have room for a full-sized flat either.
Just upgraded to 2026.15.0 on my ā23 Gen 1 DM R1T but I donāt remember ever experiencing what you describe. I have experienced the āklunkā when accelerating and Iām hoping that goes away with this new release.
The Violent Femmes had the perfect response in Kiss Off:
[Verse 2]
I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record
Oh, yeah?
Well, don't get so distressed
Did I happen to mention that I'm impressed?
Interesting. In stop & go traffic (or in the mountains) I would expect the heavier trailer to have lower efficiency but at freeway speeds I would expect the box trailer to have lower efficiency.
I agree with 3 of the 4 but Iāve found that elevation makes a huge difference. We routinely tow our 28ā AS over the Cascades and climbing drops our mi/kWh to 0.5 while, of course, we gain range coming back down but nowhere near enough to offset the energy used climbing.
I beg to differ. I use my 2023 R1T to drag my 28ā AS up and down the west coast with a range somewhere between 120-160 miles depending on the terrain. During these extended road trips the most important factor, for me, is the number of trailer-friendly SuperChargerās. My wife & I like to stop...
We just finished up our annual pilgrimage from Bend to the wine countries of Temecula and Paso Robles with our 23 R1T DM and C3X. A trip of just over 2,000 miles towing our AS, with the great majority on I-5 and the 101. Itās still my opinion that the C3X is far superior to Rivianās current...
As in life, there are few absolutes when towing a trailer.
When Iām towing my AS on a flat freeway @ 75mph, emptying the water tanks makes no noticeable dfference in range but dropping to 55mph makes a huge difference.
When towing up to my campground with a 4000ā elevation change on a curvy...
I can also vouch for the Nokians. Iāve only compared them to the OEM Pirelliās so I donāt have exhaustive experience but I really like the One HT.
I like to go straight to the source and use Teslaās FindUs page. You can filter on NACS partners for any area you like. We towed our 28ā AS across Montana to get to Wisconsin since there are so many more SCās.
We tow our 28ā AS from Bend to Temecula in winter and Bend to Vancouver Island in summer. I spent a lot of time studying PlugShare and Apple Maps satellite photos to determine which Tesla SuperChargerās had the room to charge without dropping the trailer. This is a great time saver and well...
