I have a 2024 R1S (1st gen) and indeed the seats are very hard. If you don't like them after a short test drive, you'll absolutely hate them after a long road trip. Suggest you stay away from Rivian 1 series. Perhaps the R2 series may offer softer seats.

These are a little more expensive but I got these. Noticeably better quality and fitment IMO but still not perfect.

Note, this product is actually sold and shipped by Amazon. It's not a third party seller using Amazon as fulfilment. I tend to trust products...
I would like that too but highly doubtful they're going to open a RAN there anytime soon as there's a relatively new Tesla V3 SC station opened now which is also open to all with adaptors. Given that station, I don't think Rivian plans to open a RAN in Mammoth Lakes in the next several years if...
That is unfortunately so true! I really wanted to put a low profile fridge in the frunk but that area gets super hot. It's not ideal to put a fridge there at all. Great in theory, but sux in reality. It gets way too hot in there during the summer in hot climate areas. Blame really lies with...
I sleep in the R1S during trips/camping and it would have been nice to have heated air come out of the 3rd row vents. As is, even if I have heated air come out of the front, the air that circulates out of the 3rd row is virtually cold air -- not even warm, so I have to leave the 3rd row off...
I have been wondering this for a while now. The airflow that comes out the 3rd row on my R1S seems to always be cold/cool. I've never been able to get hot air coming out of it even when I have the temp setting to HI and the front vents are producing warm air. Likewise with AC cold air. Do they...
I do agree that something needs to be done to fairly levy road maintenance taxes but I don't find any of these 3 very appealing.
Honestly, how many people are actually going to take a photo of their odometers every month to send into DMV? That seems extremely onerous.

Utter short shit! Lies.. Faster charging will always degrade battery faster than slower charging, all else being equal.
That guy featured on Kim's YT channel shows what happens in the actual real world when you fast charge too much as opposed to any biased/funded study by Tesla.
It's always...
Heh... funny to read as it's my same sentiment except I don't care about all the fluff happening on the east cost. I'm much more interested to see charger stations opening up in the west and mid west.. Really need chargers in NV/UT/NM/ID/MT/WY/SD/ND/NE and more chargers needed in CO for sure.
Can't believe how much more electricity costs in CA. Here are EV rates under PGE territory -- 16 million customers in CA fall under PGE territory.
You want to charge 59.5 kWh during peak time in summer? That'll cost you $39.27 for HOME L2 charging. Yes, our peak home charging rates in summer...
Mine is a model year 2024. In fact when I picked mine up in mid Dec 2023, it had no noticeable drain. I was honestly surprised that there appeared to be no drain. However, after the latest update which ironically stated that it was suppose to fix a rare drain issue, I actually started...
Your car, your preference, especially if your Rivian originally came with Meridian speakers, but personally, I'll take the Rivian logo grills over Meridian grills any day.
It's not very different from Bosch motors and Rivian Enduro motors. Rivian claims they have better control and ability to...
Wow.. This sucks!
I took delivery of my R1S mid Dec 2023. I knew coming in that Rivian is infamous for having massive parasitic drain on the battery. So I was actually expecting to see some drain. However, to my delight, I didn't experience -- or at least perceptible to me -- any parasitic...
So nothing official from Rivian.com.
Here's what Rivian actually says:
Why is Rivian adopting the North American Charging Standard? - Support Center - Rivian
Rivian proper merely states they'll "offer" an NACS adapter. No where in their FAQ do I see the word "free". If Rivian really...
The BMS balances whether L2 or DCFC. When it comes to DCFC, it dramatically slows down the charging current once you pass 80% and then it really lowers to trickle charging after 95%. The lower current at the end allows the BMS to properly balance all the cells.
Individual cells being out of...
