I feel pretty fortunate now. My guide was awesome.. never had a problem getting ahold of him, even sometimes got calls after hours ... process was easy (and I was waffling purchase/lease-- while worried about losing my 1 left pass on a VIN--pre-price increase)... 4 days from punching the button...

My survey asked a lot of questions about placing an order and making a purchase.. uh.. the "order" process was taken away from pre-price hike holders, and I took delivery last week... I guess the layoffs were in the marketing department?

I'm not entirely sure... doing the lease and then purchasing it immediately, I think only gets you the advantage of utilizing the tax credit immediately, instead of going down the tax refund route... but I don't know for sure.

Please. I was close to going down the lease route, but was being told (a) every term of the lease (including residual) set by Chase AFTER application (because it's dependent on credit score) .. and (b) had to be assigned VIN before application... oh, and the kicker, (c) if you get assigned...

For the lease? Yes.. They are calling it cap reduction… which kinda makes it even worse… perhaps the residual won’t be that bad… but call me skeptical.. I kind hope i’m missing something.. My Mensa application was not even acknowledged. :)

But the lease payment is lost... the $80k lease has payment of $819/mo (36 mo/10kmi/$9kdwn) .. just looking at one config ... if the residual is MSRP 60% ($60k), then you'd be paying almost $40k (36*819+$9kdwn) for that $20k diminution... yeah, you get a lower payment, but you are losing around...

Doesn't this HAVE to be true? If you have a voucher that takes 20% off retail, so $100k to $80k, but the residual is still based on a % of retail (say 60% of $100k), then you'd get hosed on the lease... I'm working to try and verify this as well... and find inventory that's at least most of my...

A lease is just a financial instrument, as it relates to autos anyway ... any use of financing is renting. If the government can take your house for failure to pay property taxes, you are renting "your" house. Just think of a lease as financing a smaller portion now with an option to buy in 2...
