Delaying Purchase?

Long time lurker, new registration... have a pre-pricehike/preorder for an R1T. My delivery window on Monday was February-March. Yesterday, I got the "time to begin purchase" email and today I got the "your appointment for delivery is 12/31". Wam, bam... they didn't even buy dinner! Finance must be really driving to meet those delivery quotas by YE!!

Has anyone had experience in delaying purchase from this point in the process.. more than say a week or two? In particular, any experience with the impact on their pre-pricehike preorder? I've sent a message to my new guide (got assigned a new one for some reason). Trying to get a clear map of my options before I either scramble or go back my my holiday slumber.

Clearly, I'm perhaps in a unique situation... just to close the loop for the unaffected, but curios:

Turns out, you can skip one VIN before risking you reservation / $1k deposit /pre-price-hike pricing. And they will at least pause the order temporarily (not wanting to test the limits on that) but no guarantees that the resumption won't take several more months or a couple weeks. Which is fine, at least for my circumstances... 2 weeks notice, during christmas, and needing snow tires to boot, was going to be a bit of a push... guess I get to go back to watching them on the road for a bit longer.

If my Rivian stock had stayed +$100/sh, well, we wouldn't be having this discussion! But, I'm in that for the long haul too! ?
