Not a bad idea but it seems better to put it under the rear seats than in the gear tunnel. I guess depending on your exact use case. It seems like most people don't use their storage under their rear seats much. Some people don't even know you can access that so it's almost wasted space compared...

A buddy of mine that I go off-roading with has a hitch-mounted spare tire. The ones on a big pivot that will unfold away from the car to allow easy access to the trunk. I'm not 100% sure how exactly but he has the recovery boards mounted to that in front of the spare wheel. . Like this kinda...

Let us know what you end up with and why. The soonish ones only use one of the two hood bolts which apparently makes install easier with less of a chance of the hood becoming misaligned during install. I don't know if there's any downsides to them being supported by just one bolt.
