I would expect 2036 Rivian R1Ts will have flash charging. I'm willing to go for an R1T with lesser technology than that -- and the tech I really want exists today. LOL
I know we're behind here, but this exists today. I'm thinking 800V and a 40% reduction in charge time is possible by 2030-2032 by Rivian. I mean, isn't that achieved by Hyundai right now?
Not pursuing a new R1T until I can regain back 400 miles of range within 20 minutes. The other one is the front suspension. This is an extremely capable suspension that has very few equals in the auto industry, but since 99% of the time it's a pavement princess, I just don't need the ball spline...
Keep in mind, the efficiency of the tire goes up as it wears. The last 10,000 miles will be significantly higher efficiency than the first 10,000 miles.
The R1T & R1S will never be the volume model for Rivian, but it will be the higher profit margin product. R&D work should continue and eventually a better half-shaft should come along. Let's hope they don't change the fitting with new models and maroon us with models that will never improve.
Funny enough, being in SE Michigan and in one of Rivian's main R&D locations I happened to see a job opening for an engineer who has extensive experience with half-shafts. Started at $140,000 and you would need to relocate to the Plymouth MI area. I'm being completely serious.
(I do not work...
I agree, but I have to wonder what the fix could be. The noise is a combination of half-shafts and air suspension. Are there other air suspension options that double as the sway bars? How many ball spline half-shafts are on the market? Also remember that this thing is 2000 lbs more than your...
I don't think you will ever see an R1 without air suspension. It's literally the defining aspect to the vehicle. It's noisy and high maintenance, but that's part of owning a high end vehicle.
Put ear plugs in and drive an F150 and R1T. With the noise aspect removed, you'll be shocked at how...
I find the auto function is broken.
I hit the toggle to one of the 3 auto settings, then release the toggle with one selected.
The wipers 9 out of 10 times never turn on and when I go back to check the setting -- it's off.
There needs to be an industry wide CP/AA -lite version that can merge some of the functions with the vehicles proprietary system.
800V and 350 KW charge rate. Charging 500 miles back in 20 minutes would work for me long term and it would be a solid tow machine considering that would pull most...
I wish this was prosecuted much more than it is. I can't sit on my porch without hearing modified vehicles accelerate from the stop light 3000 feet away.
