  1. Tire Replacement Info

My subjective observations. My OEM Pirellis lasted 19,900 miles (20” 275/65/20’s). They were surprisingly noisy at first, probably due to the large tread blocks contacting the pavement. Contrary to the experience of others, mine got progressively quieter up the the point when they were...
  2. Lifetime vehicle? Bringing future tech (battery upgrade swap) to early adopters feasible?

New battery technology would be certain to benefit everybody. CATL and many other battery suppliers are based overseas, tariffs and difficulty in raw material importation may limit innovation in this field.
  3. Gen1 Go-Chime

Didn’t want to test in real traffic, so I did a private test. It works! But car ahead may be 4-5 cars lengths gone when it goes off. You have to be pretty inattentive to experience this feature.
  4. Is it normal for the door adjustment to change when hot?

When I picked up my R1S, the front drivers side door was misaligned. This was fixed by Rivian. You might measure the fit around the door panels, gaps should be uniform. Good luck.
  5. 12v Lead Acid Battery Replacement

Yes, it is the red cord which carries 400v, this wire is positioned for easy access by firefighting personnel. The yellow labels indicate where is cable can be sheared in an emergency. I believe the HV cable was disconnected as a safety practice by the technician.
  6. 12v Lead Acid Battery Replacement

Just had my 12V battery replaced yesterday by Rivian Mobile Service. I was initially notified by phone by Rivian just a few days ago. Apparently models within a certain VIN range were reported to have battery failures, prompting higher priority for replacement service. The first thing the...
  7. NCAS plug adapter received!

The NCAA adaptor for use at Tesla supercharger stations was delivered yesterday. My R1S launch edition was delivered in the first week of May 2023, my VIN number ends in …0772. I hope this may help you to “guesstimate” when to expect your unit. Rivian actually sent me an email about 2 weeks ago...
  8. EV Sportline Sliders with lifting pucks

When my Rock Sliders were installed, I was told they would bear the weight of the R1S, and Rock Slider could be used as a jack point without use of pucks. This was actually tested by Rivian mobile service when they came to rotate my tires. Single jack lifted the entire side of car with both...
  9. Rock Sliders from EVSportline - vehicle weight bearing tested

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I did not take a photograph of the Rivian jacked up, I was perhaps too preoccupied by being amazed that it could be done. I wouldn’t recommend lifting the vehicle with a standard running board, I don’t think they would be robust enough to bear the weight.
  10. Rock Sliders from EVSportline - vehicle weight bearing tested

Installed a set of Rock Sliders from EVSportline. $$$ but heavy duty, bolted to frame. Supposed to be able to bear weight of your R1 if you get high sided. I was a little apprehensive to test this, but Rivian Mobile Service came out to rotate tires (and replace a seat belt chewed by dog), and he...
