After getting the latest update, I was most excited about getting the "Go Chime" on my Gen1 T. My commute has plenty of annoyingly long lights, so the idea that it would just beep at me to go was highly anticipated by me.

Straight up, doesn't work on my R1T. The only times the chime has ever gone off, is in drive-thrus or odd situations where it's a car moving away from me at around a 45º angle from front-center. It's the weirdest thing and was just curious what everyone else's experiences were with this with their Gen1 vehicles.
Works fine for me but, to be honest, the only time I would ever expect to hear it is if I'm testing it out. Seems like a useless feature to me.

I put it in the “nice to have” bucket. I rarely ever need it, but nice to have a little nudge on the rare occasions I do.

Hi - it does work, but the car in front has to be well ahead. It makes no sense to wait that long as drivers behind you get frustrated.

I have to turn mine off. Every day it beeps at me to blow the red light at the end of my street while I wait at the light with no cars ahead or behind me. It's pretty bad.

Given how frequently people run red and yellow lights since COVID, the delay is not a terrible thing. I've already made a habit of quickly checking both directions after light turns green. And that leads to my other thought: if you are an attentive driver, you wouldn't need the car to tell you it's time to go to begin with. Like all other driver aids, no one should be too reliant on the system. It's there only to help you when you lapse.

It works, but also goes off in the wrong situations. Had pedestrians crossing in front, and that chime went off as soon as they crossed (no vehicle ahead)

Coming from a Tesla, I expected the new Go Chime and smart turn signals to work like they did in my Model Y, but I have never once heard the Go Chime and my turn signals work exactly the same way they did before the latest update.

Not sure I need this because I have a very boring existence where I look out the windshield when I drive. No one texts or calls me. I don't listen to music. My commute is about 5 miles. Round trip. Weather permitting, I bike to work, in which case I certainly dont need this.

Heard the chime for the first time this weekend.

I was in a drive thru.

Doesn't work here either. Not sure what I would use it for anyway, but that's a different conversation.
Ok this made me chuckle

I would assume it behaves the same in both generations - but in my gen 2 it waits until well after you should start moving to remind you. Rather than chiming EVERY time a car in front of you moves, it chimes only when it's sure you're not paying attention, and you should have gone already

And as others have said, it doesn't look at traffic lights.
True....and by the time it chimes....you've likely already been "alerted" by the driver behind you :)

I've noticed with mine, if I'm the first car at a light, it might chime when it senses a vehicle crossing perpendicular to me through the light.....which is not good for those dummies that hear the chime and hit "go" without looking....

I need to check it on our R1S LE to see, but I think what folks brought up earlier about the internal camera, that might be it - didn't they remove that from Gen1 pretty early on right after LE moved to Adventure trim? I wonder if that's the difference?

The idea of this feature is that it alerts a driver who’s not paying attention. To do that it has to wait quite a bit of time and let the gap between you and the next car get inappropriately large before it can determine that you’re simply not paying attention. My experience is that I would get honked at by the car behind me before the gap is large enough to activate the chime.

As previously stated, I think the implementation is delayed too much, maybe an adjustment setting is required to set how quickly it chimes.

Keep in mind that if it dinged too quickly, we would all be irritated by the fact that it’s dinging unnecessarily.

I have not heard mine yet! I even waited as long as possible after the car in front of me drove away (at least a couple of car lengths) and no chime.....

Oddly, mine just started working today. I didn't hear it at all for a few days after the update, but driving to work today it gave me the 'ding' each time I sat too long, exactly as it should. Also, interestingly, I was backing into a parking space and the car beside me started pulling out. It gave me a 'ding' for them when they moved, LOL. 🤷😆

Didn’t want to test in real traffic, so I did a private test. It works! But car ahead may be 4-5 cars lengths gone when it goes off. You have to be pretty inattentive to experience this feature.
