Finally had my original launch edition tonneau cover fail and had to take it in for the new one. While I was there I was given a gen2 R1s as a loaner. I was very exited to try out the newer model and its differences. One feature I thought I would really like is the door button vrs the handle on the inside the ergonomics look like they would be so much better.
The first time I opened the gen2 door it felt terrible almost throw up in your mouth feeling. loose long throw the door even made some cheap rattling sounds when it closed. Was this because it was just a beat up loaner or are they all that way? im sure if you just had the one you might not even notice but I was going back and forth between them switching the car seats and couldn't believe the difference.
Also surprised no one else has talked about this? I remember all kinds of posts about the safety of the electronic door latch but none of the dead limp feeling of it.

I really dislike the button to open doors. Feels cheap, less safe. I believe china is banning it and hopefully others follow.

I believe it has been discussed and people have definitely noticed. More talked about when Gen 2 first came on the scene.

However, in the grand scheme of things, is this something really worth complaining about often?

There's been a lot of discussion about this, particularly in 2024 when the gen2 first showed up. But there doesn't seem to be anything that can be done about it.

I agree the door handles/door action in general feels gross and cheap. People getting in my car frequently think something is wrong with the door or they didn't close the door fully (even though they did). The door action/feel and the rattly suspension are probably the two biggest "this doesn't feel like a $100k car" complaints.

Yes, we notice the rattling when closing and squeaking from the interior handle. This has been discussed a million times.
