  1. XCare Extended Warranty on Rivian: My Full Claim Experience (And Outcome)

Thanks for the great info in this thread. We bought our G2 R1S Dual Max in Sept 2024 and it has been back to the SC for warranty work too many times and for too long. Twice it had to be towed, both times in February, when we really need it for winter driving. Probably 5+ weeks total at the SC...
  2. TPMS pretty worthless

Agreed, our Gen 2 is the worst car I've owned with actual TPMS. Others update almost immediately once rolling at 15-20mph. Our Audi e-tron gives pressure and temperature measured at each sensor. I don't want to add air to cold tires, then need to drive for fifteen minutes to get today's (now...
  3. Tailgate license plate screw size = M6 machine screws (2025 R1S Gen 2)

I wasn't easily able to find an answer to what screw size was needed to attach the rear license plate to the tailgate of our 2025 Gen 2 R1S, which came with the nylon inserts installed, but no fasteners. You'll want M6 machine screws, I used 16mm length, but 10mm would also work with a thin or...
  4. Disassemble Front Seat Headrests?

That's the reason. My wife has a spine injury that makes it difficult for her to ride in the car. I think this could be improved with thinner or lower- density padding.
  5. Disassemble Front Seat Headrests?

Has anyone disassembled, or removed the cover, from an R1 front seat headrest?
  6. Gen 2 Dual Max, missing 11kWh?

Yes, Dual Max. When I joined, we had ordered a Dual Large. Then I figured out the Gen 2 Large was only 109kWh (maybe 100 or less, in actual use), so we cancelled that and ordered the Dual Max. Unfortunately, we lost both our $500 deposit, and the $750 referral we had entered with the first...
  7. Gen 2 2025 R1S issues thread

I have a ticket in for hood misalignment, all four corners are off. Also front passenger door to front fender. I've also noticed that the steering wheel cover is not bonded to the rim, below the bottom spoke. I didn't notice that it bulges away for a few days, but once it did I find it annoying.
  8. Driver's seat leg room in R1S?

No problem here, but I wish there was a little more clearance for my right knee. I also like to have the seat fairly high, though, since I'm long of leg and short of torso.
  9. Gen 2 Dual Max, missing 11kWh?

Here's an update after my first nine days with the R1S Dual Max, and almost 1k miles. After each day, I recorded the miles and kWh used as reported by the trip meter, and the SOC (I've been charging to 80% at home). My average calculated mi/kWh was 2.29, giving me an average calculated 100-0%...
  10. Netgear network extender not seen by Rivian, will another work?

I'm not super tech savvy, but I had set up a Netgear R7000 router in our house, and have a Netgear EX6100 extender closer to the garage, which gives a strong enough signal to be used by our Enphase solar system and other cars over the last several years. The Netgear extender uses the same...
  11. Gen 2 Dual Max, missing 11kWh?

I just found where to add the %SOC to the drivers display, using the Units settings, thanks. Every other EV I've owned, or driven, shows (or has the option to show) a dynamic range remaining, based on a calculation using recent consumption. I think that always using the EPA estimate, instead of...
  12. Gen 2 Dual Max, missing 11kWh?

Picked up our Gen 2 R1S Dual Max with 20" A/S tires three days ago, loving most things about it so far! I had driven a '23 R1T Dual Large Performance for several hundred miles previously, and we originally ordered a Dual Large, but then I found out that the Large battery had been smallifiied for...
  13. High Money Factor Gen2 R1S lease

Correct. The cost of the lease is the $895 acquisition fee, and the rent for the first month, plus any additional months that you don't buy out the lease. In our case, the rent is $556/mo. There's no early purchase fee, and you avoid the $495 termination fee. The benefit is the $7,500 lease credit.
  14. I really can't decide! (Gen 2 R1T or R1S)

Reasons to choose an R1S for me: Shorter, easier to park in the city, or in garage. My longer sports equipment surfboards, skis, etc., fit inside, where they're not getting filthy or stolen. I'm 6' 3" and I can sleep in it.
  15. Gen 2 build 20" A/S tires?

Thanks for that. It looks like the Tire Track options for the 22s are over $500 each, another good reason to go with 20s.
  16. Gen 2 build 20" A/S tires?

Do we know what tires are included? Wondering if these will work well for our mostly road use, including a lot of packed snow and ice driving. Most of the preconfigured Gen 2 R1S trucks have the 22" Range wheels, but we found one with these, plus other options we want. We don't need the Off-Road...
  17. Rivian Off-Road Recovery Kit worth $600?

Great info here. I do a lot of winter driving with potential recovery scenarios. My Gen 2 R1S will not come with the factory front tow hooks. Is it a bit job to add them, or is there another good option for occasional use? I will get a stinger with shackle for the hitch.
  18. New "Steelie" Wheels for Rivian R1T / R1S launched and in-stock at EV Sportline!

I imagine that Dodge/RAM/FCA would also not recommend use of their truck alloys for Rivians, but a number of people reportedly have with good results. I get that they weren't designed with Rivians in mind, though,
  19. New "Steelie" Wheels for Rivian R1T / R1S launched and in-stock at EV Sportline!

I'm so tempted to get these, and rattle-can them grey to match our Limestone R1S for winter. Centering rings would also be needed, right?
