  1. will old chargepoint EVSE work?

It should I’m still using my Leviton 40a from 2012.
  2. Seeking advice for towing a car

I haven’t towed with the R1S, but used to tow regularly with my 4Runner. I have used the Uhaul trailer 4-6 times a year for my track car and sports car. The trailer weighs 2200 pounds for the old style that is still the most common. Combined weight is 3800 pounds with the track car, 5700...
  3. 3rd party self-driving options for Gen1 R1? Comma 4?

I’ve been lurking on this forum and watching the videos for several months. I haven’t seen the ability to adjust speed to curves, even on interstates. Can anyone comment on that capability? Also, would I get the ability to resume cruise control?
  4. The perfect fridge/freezer for our Rivian Frunks!

The outlet was removed first. Wiring was still there for many 2023 R1’s. Later, the wiring was removed. If it’s there, it would be on the driver’s side. I have the same fridge and was thinking the same, but decided to put it in the back instead. It was $186 on prime day
  5. I scored a loaded used Dual Max that was listed (and priced) as a base Dual Standard

Just shows how clueless dealerships are about EV’s. I bought mine from CarMax. The salesman was smart and kept his mouth shut. Obvious that I knew more about the car than he did.
  6. Tire noise comparison - Pirelli 20" All Terrain + vs. 22" Zero A/S

I had 22AS originally. Bought a set of 20AT that were lightly used. Didn’t like the 10% drop in range and the excess noise. Swapped to the Goodyear 20” Territory AT tires. Range returned and nearly as quiet compared to the 22AS I wanted more sidewall to avoid curbing the wheels as easily...
  7. The worst service experience in the industry

I’ve had only positive service interactions, with the exception of long waits for routine appointments. Had a Rav4EV. I can tell you the experience of owning a car that neither Toyota or Tesla wants to maintain or repair is easily 20 times worse. imagine if you have a Fiskar Ocean?
  8. R1S battery degradation

In the past, Tesla would hide degradation with a software locked buffer. So you can drive for the first couple of years without range loss. Not sure if they still do
  9. Current thinking on R1S 20" AS vs. 22" Sport

I just swapped from AS 22’s to Pirelli At 20’s to the 33” Goodyear 20’s. my thoughts 22 AS. slightly better handling, sharper bumps. Not 3pms rated. Quiet, good range 20 Pirelli AT. Loud, ok handling, softer bumps. 10-15% range loss. Wouldn’t make it to Truckee on a single charge during...
  10. NEMA 14-15 PLUGS FOR RIVIAN

Home Depot, I think Lowe’s does carry an EV specific plug. Spend the extra $. Make sure the connection is torqued correctly and inspect torque at 2-3 months, then annually thereafter Even if hardwired, the connection should be inspected regularly If time isn’t an issue, consider charging...
  11. Transition between Regen and Power no longer smooth/quiet

SC initially thought mine needed washers, but ended up replacing a CV axle. Click gone for now.
  12. 22" Sport Bright wheels/tires for sale. Bay Area pickup.

    Tires and wheels sold.
  13. 22" Sport Bright wheels/tires for sale. Bay Area pickup.

Not sold yet. One committed buyer. I will follow up when they’re sold
  14. 22" Sport Bright wheels/tires for sale. Bay Area pickup.

Hi All, I recently picked up a set of 20" AT wheels/tires. Putting these up for sale. Asking $1,000 firm Tires are at 3-4/32 OEM Perilli AS at 22,500 miles. One wheel has a scratch on the black part and minor scuff from the previous owner-pics attached
  15. New Hayward, CA Service Center is now available!

Hi All, I just got an appointment at the Hayward Service Center for Monday 7/21. Rivian service contacted to inform me that my service request could not be done mobile. Then asked which SC I'd like to change my appointment. It's great that I won't need to travel to SSF or SJ to get work done.
  16. Touched the water in the Atlantic then the Pacific in 4 days.

Is this something new? I've previously joined the "Tesla Club" membership, but it had to be activated through the app to get the discounted rate. Plug in after Plug and play works, but billed through Rivian at full price. I have another road trip coming up (Bay area to Glaciar NP) and will...
  17. Long Term Non Use. Appropriate Extension chords

I’d recommend derating the charge amperage. Done through the charge settings on the main screen. if you’re setting to 8a or less, I wouldn’t be concerned at all using any extension cord. If 10-12, a 10/3 cord, up to 25’ should work ok. when traveling, I carry a 6/3 10’ extension cord for my...
  18. Stripped TP55 Bolt - how to extract?

Try grinding flat edges on either side and using a wrench? It's not recessed. Probably more torque than bolt extractors. Another method is to drill a hole in the center, just the size of the T55 and hammer the bit in deeper. This worked when I sheared off 3 of 4 recessed bolts.
  19. A bunch of used r1 in Montana?

I bought my S 2 months ago. Also had a Montana carfax, but always in Ca. In my case, i think it’s the leasing company.
