  1. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

Hi All, I got my erroneous info on that station (being Rivian only) from Plugshare. I think Plugshare is a godsend, but sounds like it was wrong in this case. In my (several!) posts I believe I repeatedly acknowledged that Rivian has many competing (and valid) priorities, as well as...
  2. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

I'm back at the mall in Cheyenne, charging up before heading north to Casper. Still only 3 of 6 stalls working. But no crowd and didn't even have to drop the trailer. I'm thankful this is here.
  3. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

I respectfully disagree on opening all networks. At this stage (and for the foreseeable future) all EV's (in my humble opinion) are on the same team. Fully agree about the mall! (Although other good stuff in Cheyenne. ) Takes me back to my teenage years in the 70's.
  4. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

Definitely a net positive. But I firmly believe in the "rising tide lifts all boats" concept. Range anxiety is a real deterrent to broader EV adoption. And critical mass will benefit everyone. That said, good on Rivian for building out the RAN!
  5. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

Quite valid points relating to situating stations. It sounds like there's some promising innovation involving integrating battery banks with charging stations to allow them to be located in spots with lower capacity service. I'd still argue that reliability and opening networks should be...
  6. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

I've used these before and found all 6 working too, just not this time. And I'd think if the electrical service were out that it would kill the whole group - but I definitely don't have expertise! I did notice that the Tesla chargers were Tesla only. I respect your position. But I'd still...
  7. RAN charging station- Cheyenne WY

I just used the RAN station in Cheyenne, and I have some constructive criticism. This RAN station is located in a large mall parking lot with room to charge without dropping a trailer (at least fairly early a.m.), and some public restrooms. So far, so good. But there was: a) a bank of...
  8. Still getting strange looks

My wife and I are full-time RV'ers, and pull our trailer with our R1S. We use the frunk as a dirty clothes hamper. At the laundromat (with the frunk open) a while back, someone asked how liked the EV, and said they were sorry Rivian had gone out of business. I told him he must be thinking of...
  9. How often do you charge to 100%

My wife and I are full time rv'ers. We pull a pretty aerodynamic 27' trailer with a R1S dual max pack. The computer says we have 345 miles range with a 100% charge, but we don't normally want to drive much more than 200 miles in a day. And we usually recharge overnight at rv parks (level 2...
  10. First Tow with the R1T

Sounds like a successful test! Like the other responder, I normally cruise a little slower (60 is normal for me), and I get a few more miles.
  11. Introductions & Welcome Thread 👋

I seriously considered the Silverado when shopping for a tow vehicle. My wife vetoed it due to the size. She (and I) did like the idea of all those dealers/service centers though. And that truck does have some range. We're pretty happy with our R1S. We get about 1.75 mi/kWh pulling the...
  12. 50 Amp extension cord - ok?

Thank you! I agree with regular heat inspections.
  13. 50 Amp extension cord - ok?

Very good point about aging (and probably never inspected) infrastructure. And EV charging involves significant (approx 7.5kW) continuous load. Here's my proposal (for any RV park operators who may be listening): if you know your stuff is code compliant, just slap meters on a few sites and...
  14. 50 Amp extension cord - ok?

Thank you for your reply! I agree with highest available quality (guage, connections, etc.) In the old days, I would certainly make my own (from good components). But I'm "full-timing" (on the road) and don't have the tools I once did. I also agree with 40 amp (80%) max on a 50 amp circuit...
  15. 50 Amp extension cord - ok?

Hi All: I tried searching for this and couldn't find it - apologies if it's been covered. I'm pulling a travel trailer in some off-the-beaten-track areas - ie no fast chargers, but plenty of RV parks with 50 amp service. Aside from parks that prohibit EV charging (a whole other discussion)...
