What are the legal and financial issues involved with using non-approved adapter and it causes damage?

In my experience, asking your insurance agent a question like this often compares in quality to the information Rivian guides offer Rivian customers on all sorts of issues. In fact, I've had two Rivian Nationwide reps tell me different things in response to the same (written) question. Some...

A2Z NACS To CCS1 Adapter Review

And it seems likely that Tesla insisted on being the supplier as a part of the access deal. Gives them control over the engineering, eventual product, marketing ("Tesla made it"), and perhaps most importantly, the roll-out absent any other alternatives. Of course there are alternatives, but as...

Anyone get their Tesla Adapter yet?

Most people seem to believe that these are indeed being supplied to the manufacturers by Tesla. If so, it would seem that Rivian has done the part they can do (software). Tesla has apparently also done their "half" of the software since users (Ford and Rivian) report that listed chargers do...

Bug Tare-Away Shield for R1 Front End Needed

Something like this? I saw it recommended by owners of exotics that sometimes put them on a track or take a long trip. I've not used it, but reading the "reviews" lead me to believe that if properly applied and perhaps more importantly, properly removed (sun warmed), this film *might* work for...

Tesla Supercharger access went live!... temporarily

*If* Rivian’s agreement with Tesla is to purchase adapters from Tesla, and Tesla cannot or does not deliver in sufficient quantities, should Rivian be held responsible for not meeting their “as early as” date?

Letter to Rivian: Please Open R3/R3X Reservations

Reserving the creation of a waitlist for R3 variants allows them to create additional interest and excitement at a time of their choosing. That might be only a few months away or it could be years. But it will happen at a time that is integrated into the rest of their time line. "Don't shoot...

    Selling my R2 reservation

It's important to understand that what they choose to put in the R2 is affected by the design of the R3 and vice/versa. These products, based on the same platform, are not designed in isolation. Same thing for probably most "series" of products such as phones, computers, spec houses, etc...

7 Automakers Join to Create "Ionna" a Massive New U.S. EV Charging Network

The group might be able to get their implemented numbers up comparatively quickly by locating a high percentage of these facilities at existing dealerships. Not what many (most?) of us are looking for, but in many parts of the country dealerships are are off an interstate or highway; one of the...

RCS/SMS text message support for infotainment?

You are correct, the SMS/text messaging protocol could have been implemented at almost any point earlier. But for whatever reason Rivian did not do so. And now the landscape has changed. In mid-November Apple (finally?) agreed to support the RCS protocol instead of SMS/MMS to communicate to...

Cybertruck. The beauty isn’t even skin deep.

Reservations were once touted by Tesla to be 2 million. Then in the last earnings call before CT release, Tesla (Elon) said they had 1 million reservations. It will be interesting to see if any number is quoted in the next earnings call. There should be a line on that in Vegas.....

RCS/SMS text message support for infotainment?

It's not impossible that Apple's announcement in Nov that they were going to support RCS has extended Rivian's timeline. The adoption of this standard will make continued integration across OS environments less problematic for all. Another positive development driven by the EU.

RCS/SMS text message support for infotainment?

Rivian's SVP of Software Engineering, Wassym Bensaid answered the question, "When will we see text messaging, etc.?" back in April at about 5:38 in this video. He said clearly that they are working on it, and although he did not want to over commit, he expected it would be "in the next few...
