I'm thinking the most precise information we have is basically that a 135kWh with nice options like the electrochromatic roof, is about $69k - previously I assumed 69k was the base option with 105kWh.
So perhaps 135kWh without the fancy roof, etc., would be a few thousand less. This is moving...
Yeah I just woke up to the hydraulic details as well.. not sure how that wasn't impressed on me earlier.
I agree you don't normally hit bumps at those speeds if you don't have money to throw around.. but I think they are going to knock it out of the park on this one, when you look at the...
I feel the same way.. The Rivian is my top pick but it's just outside of my comfortable price range.. so I feel torn. I may stay with normal cars until the used Rivians are affordable or the right EV comes out at the right price.
Yeah I agree - it seems downright dangerous to take a Model X offroad.. but if they can make the Tesla truck safe, with decent off-road performance, I'll get one :) I'm somewhat worried they make it a truck that can tow and has good range, but can't be off-roaded.. and I don't think electrics...
I tend to agree with a lot of what you're saying.. I'm sure the pricing is what is best for the company and probably very smart as a first product.. for me personally, 50k would be a no brainer and probably 60k too. 70k starting, and more like 80k for the mid battery pack is just a little more...
Well certainly I don't have access to any information other people don't have, but having worked my entire career in product design and manufacturing in high tech industries, I have a feel for what good teams say and do and what other team say and do, and the Rivian teams are saying the right...
I would guess Rivian will have a significant quality advantage as well, based on all the interviews I have seen. I come from a design and manufacturing background, and everyone I have seen speak from Rivian is saying what great teams say, and I think this will filter down into a great product...
If at the same price point I would undoubtedly get the Rivian. It's a little more than I am comfortable with however, so I will look carefully at what Tesla offers. If I had the money, it would be Rivian hands down :)
quick note - I think it's all about whether the depreciation offsets the operating cost savings. If you think the Rivian will resell go from 80k down to 40k resale over 5 years, it is at 70k cost of ownership over five years - higher than most cars I am considering, by about 10k or 15k. If it...
Pulled a couple quick comparisons. There was no data available for the Colorado ZR2 or Bison, which I would have liked to have seen. I pulled the Z71 instead, the most expensive I could find was almost 40k cash price.
I agree. The point of the exercise for me, frankly, wasn't to do a fair comparison at a given price point, but an actual comparison for vehicles I was considering.. so I agree, it's entirely pointless to anyone else. I did actually derive some benefit from the comparison however, because I...
I believe there is currently a 200,000 vehicle cap on the federal credit before the manufacturer starts to lose the tax break provided to purchaser. My suspicion is that the next-gen Rivian, coming out maybe around the time the R1S/R1T are hitting the 200k mark (or perhaps a little later maybe)...
