  1. PDM/DM/QM Need input to confirm order

Conserve in QM is for occasional use only, because of tire wear issue. If you need this extra range often, go for DM/PDM. If you push in corners a lot, the torque vectoring in QM is great - but not as good as it can be. I have driven ICE cars that do this better. Else, get DM and save money...
  2. Seat Belt Mod - Possible?

I had a rear seat belt rattle and the SC replaced the whole thing. They said that there is a small explosive charge in it and they don't mess with it. My .02, don't mess with it.
  3. Trouble in the snow with my QM R1T Adventure

Do you feel that it's unstable with barely any throttle or off throttle? If yes it's the tires. The motor config will not make a difference. There will.be some corner cases where a DM may be better. QM should be better for most people in most of the cases. The torque vectoring does make a...
  4. R1S - One of the tires spin slower than others

Remove all air and fill with the same source. Nitrogen is better. I have a slow leak in 3 tires(thanks to Discount Tire Redmond who said it was within spec) and I use a bicycle pump to add 1-2 psi. Over the years, the one tire has stable pressure and other three fluctuate wildly with...
  5. R1 refresh prototypes spotted with new hardware?

Latest Luminar sensors seem to be flat. Some look like the brake lights on a Ford fusion.
  6. R1 refresh prototypes spotted with new hardware?

Are we finally getting the Lidar? It was my original reason for putting a deposit.
  7. Rivian now selling wiper blades

I agree, not the best ones, but we're ok for an year. However this car stays in the garage almost the whole day. We have Mazda that used to be outside 24x7 and they were streak free for 3 years. I changed them, because they were too old, and they were still great. If I can find out who makes...
  8. WSJ coming around to EVs

Interesting. My comment on who the WSJ owner is got deleted. Go ahead and delete this too. If I really wanted to be political, I would have said ........Now I wonder who owns this website. Delete, ban, what ever
  9. Having Cold-soaked battery warming issues? Turn off regenerative braking assist

I turned it off. I don't like it when truck uses brakes without telling me. This is the same reason why I don't use cruise in mountains in my ICE car. Next thing we know, we are wondering why those massive Brembo brakes don't last as long or why the we may find that brakes are ineffective after...
  10. Trim (Fender Flare) dislodged from a puddle

Do you have the drive cam video?
  11. Cybertruck design engineer spilling secrets?

If a warp engine can be an engine, I am ok calling a motor an engine 😀. We should call these electron engines 😉
  12. Door Handle Activation

This happens in car wash mode, but agree that this should be an option for regular use. I set it to unlock only the driver door for this exact reason.
  13. Dumpster Truck can do Circumcisions!

You are holding it wrong!! In case you don't know the reference: https://www.engadget.com/2010-06-24-apple-responds-over-iphone-4-reception-issues-youre-holding-th.html
  14. Door Handle Activation

They are spring loaded, when in open position. You can push them and they will go inside. They "opened" when you unlocked the car. They popped out when the ice was removed.
  15. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

Perhaps the lock/unlock issues are listed as exterior door handles? The lock button is usually on the handles for almost all other vehicles. It's a poor description, nevertheless. Edit: There is no such thing as a perfect car. If you read the full review, it's spot on and I would agree with...
  16. Snow socks on ice -- impressive performance

If you left the car in park on that incline, with just the parking break, you got lucky. Parking break only locks rear wheels and fronts don't have anything stopping them. I will consider getting these socks.
  17. Can smell the windshield washer fluid in the cab every time I use the wipers.. anyone else?

Every car I have driven does this. What did you drive, that did not have this problem? Just curious 🤔
  18. EV accidents

I still don't like Regen brakes. They are laggy and take a full second to reach peak braking after letting go of the throttle pedal. This was designed for people who treat it like a switch. I don't treat it like a switch and would like it to react quicker. I would prefer a more aggressive mode...
  19. Rivian doesn't cost less to drive on long trips

Oil changes including rotation cost about $90 at the dealer. A little less if you take quality oil and ask them to use it. I was using Mobil 1 and switched to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. It's over 2k to replace those 21' tire. ICE tires cost less than that. Tire costs alone will offset that price...
