That was pretty brave to power all of those devices. You're lucky you only lost power for 2 days. Here in Clearwater, it's not uncommon to lose power for 5-7 days during bad storms. The Rivian battery held up great during the last outage, but I used it mostly for the fridge and charging phones.
We lost power for 8 days during hurricane Helene in 2024. Judicious use of my R1S battery with a good extension cord kept our refridgerator cool the entire time. I was amazed how well the battery held up. I even used it for cooking with an electric griddle.
I've read the older threads of water being trapped in the passenger door on R1Ts. Has anyone had this happen to their R1S? I hear the sloshing noise after a recent car wash. Seems to be located at the passenger door. I tried the fix posted on Reddit, but I could not access the drain plugs...
Brought my 2023 R1S in for tire rotation and inspection after 19,000 miles. I had been having a squeal from the left front wheel at low speeds which I thought was a bearing hub issue. Thorough inspection was normal all around. 21 inch Tires rotated and still have plenty of tread. The squeal...
Mine has been intermittent since this last update. Doesn't consistently lock when I walk away. Takes longer to unlock as I approach. Same iphone. Never had issues with PAAK before. Software resets have not made a difference.
Another vote for the EGO system. Mower, trimmer, edger and blower. Nice that I can swap batteries easily.
Anyone else have an electric robotic mower? I've got a Husqvarna robot that has been mowing my front yard nicely for the past 5 years.
You may not tow, but the Model X only has 5000lb towing capacity and my R1S has 7500lb towing capacity. I need that extra capacity to tow my boat. Tesla was not in the discussion.
Great write up. My boat towing experience with a 4500lb load resulted in only a 40% reduction in range with my R1S. My ski boat must be a bit more aerodynamic than your vessel.
Personally, I'm not a fan of this VW collaboration. I vowed to never own one of their products after dieselgate. The intentially deceptive programming used to circumvent our environmental regulations should have been met with a stiffer penalty. They got a slap on the wrist.
Do your electricity rates vary through the day? If so, a programmable unit might be worth your while. If not, just get a simple reliable charger. I have a Clipper Creek (now enphase) which has been excellent over the past 4 years. I recently installed the highly rated Grizzl-E in my other...
Surprisingly good update! Ride in soft mode is much improved in my R1S. I like the font and dash layout. The arrival of turn signal blind spot camera was shocking after being teased just 11 short months ago.
