See the post I just made I would guess this works for you as well. Given it will take more than the truck you may need the ability to limit the wattage.
This the video, the ac to dc converter is a EG4 Chargeverter. It's quite large for the job and expensive, I'm looking for something similar, maybe 1500w 48v so as not to stress the truck or the inverter.
There is a video of this exact configuration and something I am looking at. The other option I'm considering is to just get a 48v 1500w ac to dc converter which is much cheaper and should allow for the 1200w load without stressing the truck or the dc converter. Ill let you know what comes of it...
There needs to be a way for me to either tether to my phone while driving (keep wifi on) or allow me to use my own provider where I likely get a good discount. I'm all for charging a fee, but I'm also for choice.
I'd add that it is a pretty confined space today and batteries are not partially energy dense but give it a few (++) years and you could have 5-10 times the density and a bit of redesign for more space and... so makes sense.
Great job and appreciate the write up had a similar set of where did put that and why is this upside down when I did mine.
I cheated heavily, use two 2x4 cut to length and nailed together as the under portion, with a strap out to the bolts. Then mounted the rails directly on top of those...
I voted no. Really can't understand why you would build a car with different ports. Tesla currently builds EU based cars with a ccs type 2 port, adapters exist for ccs type 1 to type 2,so my vote would be move the US to type 2 then as a manufacturer you build a car with just one port for the two...
I wish they would bring conserve mode in the quad drive inline with the all purpose of the dual motor. I find conserve to happily spin the front wheels all the time and don't use it for that reason. Something that I would really like to see.
IMO conserve mode needs work. If I am in all purpose I can accelerate hard without tie spin, but in conserve the tires just spin and they keep on spinning. It feels like traction control is only really effective if you are driving all 4 wheels. It means that in wet conditions the truck is quite...
Not sure if it has been mentioned yet but when I had my truck wrapped they did the lights too and the 3m film is hydrophobic so may help as I take the same trips this season.
I'll see if I can make, but will be a bit late if I do. I've got an alternative recovery kit from Gear America and a set of recovery boards that I can bring along.
Actually I've done this already that's the service truck delivering my spare, they did say home visits right.
But seriously how about one of these is it workable. https://www.wyeth-scott.com/models.php
Thanks for the details and considerations if I want to pull the car apart and put it back together again. I was going to wait for Rivian to actually come up with a for $$$ we can retro fit one to your truck. Effectively - Rivian if I give you X$ will you make my truck like the first photo...
New to off roading but realize that I could easily get myself into a situation where a helping hand would be required. Since Rivian hasn't yet figure out when, where or how a winch could be added I was looking for an alternative.
I'd be very interested in any suggestions on potential...
