Software is hard, that is why not having the solutions for problems already solved is weird. Especially basic functions that us OG early adopters saw implemented over time and now have to wait to be implemented again. The logical baseline is OS 2.0 would include features from its predecessor...
Like I said⦠I know why people say it. Itās not the same as R1 because Gen2 R1 is actually the real Gen2 R1 that also happens to correlate with Gen2 compute platform. With R2 it gets weird because Gen1 R2 has Gen2 compute but will soon have Gen3 compute. While R1 may not get Gen3 compute until...
Are they? Those are all still missing in R2 at the moment, right? Thatās why my take is the OS 2.0 feels like my R1T OS circa 2022 but with new GUI. I canāt fathom why features that we added over the past four years are missing in the initial 2.0 release. Especially something like the garage...
Due to the heavy lift of ramping R2 production I expect 2027 R1 to be exactly like 2026 R1 from a hardware perspective. Maybe there will be some minor enhancements, or some cosmetic changes, but those would be a bonus.
Pet mode is just one of a set of features that are inexplicably missing in OS 2.0 that were added to 1.0 over the last four years. It's almost as if they put a new GUI on the OG software. Pet mode is one thing that affects a certain demographic, but how could they not have garage doors at launch?
I have an early truck, VIN 38xx, and have used PAAK exclusively for over four years. Various OTAs have affected sensitivity so range has seesawed through the updates but otherwise no real issues. At every point PAAK performance has been MUCH better than Ford could manage on the Mockey we had.
My original V1 cover would do this. Only open one panel. The two panels closest to the cabin would stick together due to dirt/etc. I found I could separate them with a couple of quick bangs with the palm of my hand on the joint. Ultimately I simply started opening the v1 tonneau every day or so...
SIlver has alway won the āhide the dirtā contest on any vehicle. Old man beige/gold is up there also of course, since itās basically metallic dirt color, but NO ONE should subject themselves to that š¤£
Like any car, silver & gray are the best. Launch Green should be a solid bet as well. White actually does really well as long as you donāt accidentally wipe a clean spot on a dirty white car. 𤣠Midnight and Forest Green are the worst, but i do love Forest Green.
Yesā¦current production is only Performance models with the Launch Edition package. Saved configurations are just an entertaining aspect of most new car websites these days. R2 favorites have nothing to do with your order date. Once you get your invite you will be able to buy any available...
Yep, and when I used their "Explore Rivian Care" button under my account I just saw again "Rivian Care is in its pilot phase, currently offered to a select group of customers in Texas."
weird
It's hilarious that the post shows it is available in my state since it's been crickets since I signed up for notifications way back when the pilot was announced. Also, when I go to Rivian's own site to get more info it tells me Rivian Care is a pilot program only available for select Texas...
In early 2021 I just happened to be at a Tesla Service Center when a few of the entry level single motor Model Y's arrived. Had I known that variant would only exist for maybe three weeks and be super-rare I would have bought one for the auction site craziness. š¤£
This was discussed immediately after we knew the tire sizes. Similar situation existed in 2022 with the R1 21s and 20" ATs but options followed.
This is also in no way unique to Rivian. There have been many cars released with no tire alternatives.
Don't feel sorry for us early adopters! We got a great deal on a great truck we have enjoyed for up to four years. They don't have a "short lifespan" any more than any vehicle that has an updated version come out next model year/generation. I'm happy with my Gen1 LE R1T even it gets no...
I have never scored a Gen 2 loaner in ATL or Franklin. Can't recall seeing a Gen2 loaner for that matter. Maybe that will change in a couple of weeks when I take our R1S in for service if they have to send me home without ours.
