I'm in Western NC, and see about 1 Rivian a week. I always want to wave and/or flash but the roads are so curvy there is rarely enough time for me to react. So don't take offense if you see a silver Rivian and don't get a wave.
I'm always excited to see one, and we even have a service center...
I've got a 2022 R1T that has been great other than recalls and a few nags. It has < 30k miles, and just over 2 years left on warranty.
I'm pondering the same decision. Love the truck but not the costs of repairs.
In addition to the options discussed here, I'm thinking maybe trade-in on an R2...
That's the way I did it after hurricane Helene came through.
Just make sure you turn-off Gary (camera recording) to avoid battery drainage. It may be turned off since you're still parked at home. Also, I would recommend keeping track of your remaining charge just in case the power company...
As someone that used my Rivian to power the refrigerator during the power outage from Helene, I've eagerly waiting this too. I believe it was mentioned in a recent investor day conference in June, but I don't think there has been any other details.
Ha! that's a good point. And did you see the tiny frunk? One of the things I love about the R1T is tons of storage before I even think about putting something in the bed.
I'm a long time Rivian fan. Got my R1T in 2022 after being on the wait list for 3 years. The Scout/Terra checks all the boxes and then some, but for some reason I really didn't feel the excitement that I did when RJ was presenting the R1. Maybe it's because Rivian already stole my heart, or...
In hindsight, I agree 100%. However, my previous record for going without power is 3 days, and I'm in Western North Carolina not the coast.
11 days or even 7 days is a long-time to go without power. Even people with propane backup generators were having issues. We had a neighbor whose...
We live in the mountains of Western North Carolina a little over an hour from Asheville. When I realized Hurricane Helene was heading our way, I charged the Rivian up to 85% just in case we needed to go far away. I also looked up the fording height of the Rivian...over 43 inches! Wow! I'm glad...
I agree with most on here that you might be overanalyzing this, but but speaking to a few of your concerns:
- Regen braking - I live in the mountains of Western NC close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I love the regenerative braking. I will admit 80% of my driving is casual or stuck in slow...
Does conserve mode automatically lower the ride height ? What's generally the most efficient ride height on a good road surface (std, low, lowest).
I would be interested in seeing a common sense set of steps to improve your mileage when you know you have to "fill-up" at an expensive charger...
Thanks. This has given me a lot to think about. I was looking for a manufacturer service plan, but it looks like there are a few well thought of 3rd party plans as well.
It looks like my options now are:
- Purchase a 3rd party service plan.
- Wait to see if Rivian will match Tesla and offer a...
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether Rivian will offer an extended service plan? Does Tesla?
Call me a worry wart, but I'm nearly 2 years into the 5 year warranty. I love my R1T, but I shudder to think about the cost of repairs after 5 years. Mine has been very reliable so far, but most...
Oh man, I'm in the don't like Apple but love my Rivian, camp. Apple doesn't seem like a growth company any longer, so they definitely need something new to grow revenues. On the other hand, a boutique truck/SUV company doesn't seem like their style, and not sure the revenues would move the...
Did we ever reach consensus on whether the Meridian sound system is really better than the Rivian? I have Meridian in my R1T LE, and it sounds good...but I've heard better.
Actually, maybe I better go back and confirm what I have after reading this thread. :)
