Does anyone have any thoughts on whether Rivian will offer an extended service plan? Does Tesla?

Call me a worry wart, but I'm nearly 2 years into the 5 year warranty. I love my R1T, but I shudder to think about the cost of repairs after 5 years. Mine has been very reliable so far, but most cars are after only 2 years.

Appreciate any thoughts?

Tesla allows owners to purchase an extended warranty in-app.

If your Model S, Model X, Model 3 or Model Y is still covered by its Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty for new vehicles, you may be eligible to purchase an Extended Service Agreement (ESA) to extend certain coverage by up to 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Note: the extended warranty is NOT available for Tesla Used purchases, as they already come with an extended warranty.

Thanks. This has given me a lot to think about. I was looking for a manufacturer service plan, but it looks like there are a few well thought of 3rd party plans as well.

It looks like my options now are:
- Purchase a 3rd party service plan.
- Wait to see if Rivian will match Tesla and offer a service plan.
- Put down a deposit on an R2 and trade-in the R1 when it's ready. ;)I like the rear charging port, but I would be giving up a lot to go to an R2.

All things being equal (within reason), I'd prefer an OEM/Rivian extended warranty over a 3rd party offering.

Given I've had somewhere in the range of $20k-$30k in warranty covered repairs during the first 21 months of ownership, Rivian might have to charge us quite a bit for an Extended Warrant/Service Agreement.

I'm with OP. I just purchased a used (or close to new) 2023 R1S with 2500 miles :) and the other than transfer of ownership my first question to support was to ask about an extended warranty. Nothing available. Can you imagine the cost of a computer going out? Ouch.
