What drive mode for SJ/Bay Area Hwy 17 to Santa Cruz in R1S?

I have the truck, but find the firm setting to be best on 17.

Rivian service every bit as bad as people say

They are inexperienced and not as polished but still took care of my issues and then some. I also am not expecting perfection. I can't say I've had good experience with many auto service centers as a whole, though. Mostly incompetence and greed. Rivian is so far just the first one.

$1700 Service Center ONLY Windshield Replacement is UNSUSTAINABLE !

Rivian glass is brittle. My windshield is not going to last even 3 years. Already have a crack started from seemingly nothing. Don't lean on your roof glass either! I know it's for weight savings, but that's not a place to skimp. People have walked on Tesla roofs and windshields.

    Brand new R1S is DEAD

Sorry you are having this issue, I'm sure Rivian will take care of you quickly. 12V battery issues are all over the auto market, and not just for EVs. Seems ripe for a redesign of that concept.

R2 and R3X visit San Jose (photos, reactions, tire sizes)

Looks great! Surprised to see a 275 wide 21 on the R2.

    “Refresh” prediction

I'm prediction that this shutdown is all for efficiency and cost improvements behind the scenes. Some engineering changes, but minor, like new door panels. They may introduce trimotor and push the Bosch units out. I don't think this is the Peregrine refresh that's being talked about. There...

Why are Homepage Links constantly Broken?

Half the time I click a story from the homepage I get "Oops" this page is moved. Anyone else notice this happens way too often? Makes finding the discussion nearly impossible.

Just received a NACS Adapter Email from Rivian

Clicked that link so fast! I'm January 2023, so likely will be waiting a bit for my adapter.

What will Tesla's response to the R3X look like?

That's clearly a Land Rover product.

    All-New 4Runner (2025) First Official Teaser Look

The 4 Runner will be on the same chassis as the LC250. The LC will be priced higher with a standard hybrid engine and pay to play land cruiser looks. Expect the 4R to be offered down trim with base 4 cyl turbo from Tacoma, and offered in a Pro spec with the hybrid. I expect the Pro to cost just...

    R1T Rally Mode - Zion - Vegas - 1,605 Mile Trip - 886 kWh - $312

Yeah that RAN in Vegas is great! Lots of stuff nearby to walk around or grab a bite.

20" Nitto Recon Grappler AT tires 25% more efficient than Pirelli OEM AT! The holy grail!

Tire Rack says 34.1" for the Rivian spec https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Pirelli&tireModel=Scorpion+All+Terrain+Plus&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=765HR0SATPV2&tab=Sizes

So wait, the factory 34 is actually a 33?! I've been had! That Nitto is a full inch taller.

would you buy R1T again as of 3/25/2024?

Yes. I think my next truck will be the next gen R1T, whenever they significantly increase charge speed. I don't see any manufacturers working on anything that suits me better than a Rivian. Also have the R2 on order to replace second car.

Resolved (my) excessive wind noise 2023 R1T (cause: corner window plastic trim)

I need to try this. My Driver side wind noise is sometimes annoying, passenger side is dead silent.

R1T ranked above Cybertruck and Lightning in real-world comparison test (Motortrend 3/18/24 review)

I love how they picked the Lightning in their previous review against a Quad motor R1T.. Even though their highway tests are lower range than, say, Edmunds' more calculated approach, it's still a realistic example. In my road trips (QM/AT) I get around 1.8 mi/kWh in Conserve at 75 mph. So...

    R1T Rally Mode - Zion - Vegas - 1,605 Mile Trip - 886 kWh - $312

Yeah I hear ya, but it's a mixed result. I would go for the road trip anyway! Example 1: in Barstow, the Rivian charger is there, but Tesla opened up a 70 charger station to Rivian. Benefit if the RAN is full. (On a weekday I was the only one there, weekend was busy) Example 2: Santa Barbara...

    R1T Rally Mode - Zion - Vegas - 1,605 Mile Trip - 886 kWh - $312

Rivian says they will ship me one, s00n 😀 But in the most difficult areas I encountered there aren't many Tesla chargers either. I attached a basic map of where I was out in Utah/Arizona. EA charger near St.George. Camped near Gooseberry Mesa, dirt road connects Hwy 59 and 9.
