Rivian is by far the closest to becoming reality of all the EV pickups announced by startups in the past couple of years. Bollinger is the only other one to actually have shown a vehicle, while Karma, Lordstown and Nikola pickups have been nothing but renderings on a screen.
Some of us first adopters who take delivery early will be putting our faith in Rivian's engineering. With the attention they've shown to skateboard/battery safety and protection (they actually tested the strength of the skateboard underpanel's ballistic casing by dropping the R1T/R1S right onto...
I think very light "adventure" is what they are aiming for - like glamping for the upper-middle class target demographic of this vehicle who want to have some fun with all the bells and whistles and none of the inconveniences and risks of real off-roading or adventure. A company like Rivian is...
I think these trucks will be extremely capable off road. Besides being tough with the ballistic casing underbody they'll have, the Rivian trucks may also have unique capabilities because it's an EV. For example since there's four motors powering each wheel independently, Rivian hinted that the...
Yea application discusses a way that Rivian could monitor the use of shared vehicles and reconfiguring the same vehicle to meet two different requests. So this modulular configurability could also be used for a ride sharing program where an individual or business can request that the vehicle be...
Since Rivian advertises the R1T and R1S as "Electric Adventure Vehicles" a modular extended battery idea makes a lot of sense. This way they can truly be put to "adventure" use and taken into even more remote areas without range anxiety.
I wonder what the business plan for this auxiliary...
Agreed. But until charging times drop drastically, can you imagine the queues at gas stations for charging stations.
Interesting you brought up Saudi Arabia as one of their biggest initial angel investors (Abdul Latif Jameel Ltd.) was a Saudi automotive conglomerate -
Got mine but can't make it :( If only it were on a weekend I would try and make a weekend trip to NY and visit some family too.
Can someone please ask how many deposits they've received so far?
Was studying the R1T specs sheet and was curious how the approach angle, departure angle and breakover angle compare to midsize pickups. Turns out that if the production R1T matches these specs, it'll be nearly class leading across the board (with exception of approach angle which is virtually...
Was deep diving into the specs - if the production R1T keep these approach angle, departure angle and breakover angle #'s, they would basically be class leading in the pickup segment.
I'd bet on Electrify America too. Porsche has also partnered with Electrify America and is offering 3 years of unlimited charging for owners of their upcoming Taycan sedan.
I think Scaringe is serious about the off roadability of the vehicles and not just giving it lip service for marketing purposes.
They've actually tested the strength of the skateboard under panel's ballistic casing by dropping the R1T/R1S right onto rocks from a height of a couple feet. So...
It sure will! Here's a great explanation for Rivian's one-pedal driving setup.
Full-stop one-pedal regen braking
Like an increasing number of electric cars, the new Rivian vehicles can not only regenerate power back into the battery to help slow down but can quickly bring the vehicle to a full...
I'm guessing a sports coupe is one of them? Rivian began by developing a sports coupe before they abandoned that and pivoted to developing a pickup truck and SUV, so would make sense to add that to the lineup since they must already have previous designs and engineering plans for it (if not...
I think Atlis and Rivian are in different stratospheres when it comes to viability. Here's some stats and facts which make it clear which one is likely to come to market and which one is destined for the vaporware bin.
Rivian has approximately 600 employees
Atlis has less than 6 employees...
Good as long as we don’t pick up Faraday’s shady CEO :bandit: Joking aside this can only help having people bring over knowledge and expertise directly from another EV company.
