Perhaps you guys have already thought of this and discarded it as an option… has anyone considered the Thule mounting kit 187139:

seems like you could adapt it for custom applications.
I have this problem as well. My driveway slopes away from the house, and i have to manually open the liftgate when the vehicle is pointing downhill. Thought it was odd that Rivian had such a wimpy actuator for the liftgate, it hadn't occurred to me that this could potentially be fixed (seems...
I have the Yakima Skybox 18, and it fits well on the first two crossbar locations. Here’s a pic from a recent trip - 6 humans, one dog, one plastic kayak, two inflatable SUPs…
Yeah, tell me about it. I jumped the gun and ordered the rivian rack as well (before deciding to get the Thule), now gathering dust without a single use.
You got it right - it’s a Shearwater sport Hybrid that I built from a CLC kit a couple of years ago. The Hullavator is working out great...
I did use the 60" wing bars. The tech. suggested 53", but the distance between the mounting points on the roof is 48" and I wanted an even overhang on both sides - with the option to install a second hullavator on the other side if needed in the future. So the 60" works perfectly.
No issues...
I finally got the Hullavators installed. Since the Rivian cross bars can’t be used, I used the Thule mounting kit 187139

Just got my R1S yesterday and already finding the heat pretty noticeable, shudder to think of what it will be like in August here in the Sacramento area.
I'd love to hear the details of your solution, once you have it. I have some wild ideas as well, but I need to get my hands on my R1S and crossbars first.
I haven't been able to uncover any information, but I just pulled the trigger on an R1S from the R1 shop last week. Will report back once I have a chance to examine and experiment with the crossbars (I assume I should get it in the next 8 weeks.)
Has anyone installed a Thule Hullavator or Yakima Showdown kayak rack on their R1T or R1S ? As I understand it, those racks require the crossbar to have several inches of overhang on the outside of the tower (which would seem to require something other than the Rivian factory crossbars). I...
