  1. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

Absolutely! I was thinking the same thing. Also regular tire rotation is even more critical, or you may just wear your tires into a situation where you have a large offset between them, and the car could start driving funny. Overall this was a huge learning experience.
  2. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

Driving a short distance on a vehicle with a standard axle would probably have been fine .. but I did put nearly 4000 miles on those tires, so I do wonder what the long-term damage could have been on a different vehicle. The tire shop replaced all of my tires today with new ones (the right...
  3. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

Update 2: Interesting interim test - front/rear mismatch vs diagonal mismatch So while I wait for the tire shop to get the correct tires in, Rivian moved the tires around to at least match each axle. Now I've got: - Front-Left + Front-Right: 275/65R20 (both non-LT - what I ordered) -...
  4. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

So... turns out @Dark-Fx was absolutely right to tell me to check the tire specs more carefully. Rivian finally figured it out - the tire shop installed the wrong tires. I specifically ordered the non-LT version (275/65R20), but they mixed in LT tires on two of the wheels. Here's what they...
  5. Vehicle offline. Wifi, cellular not connected issues

@Weck, It's been a long time since I've heard of this issue.. but it sounds pretty much identical to the "dead TCM" issue (see https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/lte-gps-wifi-are-offline-and-hard-reset-doesn’t-work.7886/#post-198026). I hope it's not that - but if it is, it is fixable...
  6. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

hah .. no. all my tires are fine and new. rivian agreed after looking at it, something is definitely wrong with either some calibration issue, or the motors themselves. i expect to find out this week what the next steps are..
  7. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

So ... after a while, I have an update. While driving back from Tahoe on a long steep downhill, I finally thought to check out the vehicle/motor info page while these regen-braking issues were happening. Low and behold, my rear-two motors are engaging intermittently and sometimes disengaging...
  8. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

I may have mis-remembered, I thought the Pirellis were around 52lbs.. but either way, I agree that the weight difference didn't seem like it should cause any changes. I've done a hard reset, but I probably won't be back on the freeway for a few days, so I'll have to see how it feels later in the...
  9. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

I have not done a full hard reset - not a bad idea though... Possible - I thought about that, but it doesn't quite line up with the behaviors im feeling... but definitely possible.
  10. Changes to throttle behavior, cruise control and regen since 2025.22.01 (Gen1)

This is an information gathering thread ... I'm not sure if there is an issue with my vehicle specifically, or a broader issue. My vehicle is a Gen1 R1T Quad (vin 24xx). Back Story: A few weeks back when the 2025.22.01 release came out, I happened to get it the exact same day that I got new...
  11. Efficiency boost from 2025.10 update? Anyone else seeing this?

Oh that is a good point - something I absolutely noticed after either the most current or last update was that my lie-o-meter actually would go _above_ 4! In all the time I've owend the car, no matter how much downhill we were driving it always pegged right at 4 or 3.99 (which happened at some...
  12. Efficiency boost from 2025.10 update? Anyone else seeing this?

(Gen1 QuadMotor Notes - early VIN... ~2400) Anecdotally - because I haven't done much more than around town driving for a few weeks - I have also seen a *significant* miles/kWh improvement over the last few weeks. Like the OP, I generally see my miles/kWh somewhere between 1.8-2. On a long flat...
  13. Can you Lemon a car for poor alignment?-UPDATE-They are changing the subframe to a GEN 2 with an added bonus. Update 2: Alignment is worse

Enough that I lost track? :)... I love my Rivian, and I'm happy to acknoweldge that I've paid the "Early Adopter Price" by owning an early VIN. At least 8-10 times, probably more.

  15. Comma AI / OpenPilot Autopilot Progress on R1!

This is wild... One of my close and best friends was the CEO of Comma.ai for a short while. I just gave him a hard time for not giving me a heads up on this! :P
  16. Can you Lemon a car for poor alignment?-UPDATE-They are changing the subframe to a GEN 2 with an added bonus. Update 2: Alignment is worse

I re-read this and I think its misleading. My truck has been in the shop many many times ... it had just only ever been in once for an alignment. I love my truck, but it hasn't been problem free, and I didn't mean to indicate that.
  17. Can you Lemon a car for poor alignment?-UPDATE-They are changing the subframe to a GEN 2 with an added bonus. Update 2: Alignment is worse

I want to add - that while it sounds like a lot of "problems" ... rivian has treated me great every single time they've worked on the car. I've been able to get loaners probably 70% of the time, and I am currently driving a lovely Launch Edition Quad Motor R1S, so I'm perfectly happy to let...
  18. Can you Lemon a car for poor alignment?-UPDATE-They are changing the subframe to a GEN 2 with an added bonus. Update 2: Alignment is worse

So - my truck is in the shop having some work done, and I have some specific experience now with the front subframe, and got some information from the lead tech at the shop about the early subframes, their design issues, and how the updated one fixes it. First, this information pertains to Gen1...
  19. Rivian Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Beginning Dec 13, 2024

I'm not sure I understand your point ... Rivian is planning on automatically opting everyone in to an email-based "second factor" authentication method... sure, some people will set up the SMS method (which might be mildly better?), but fundamentally they're automatically opting us into a system...
