  1. TSB for Replacing Coolant Expansion Tank and Hose

My 2023 R1S is at the service center for this coolant tank repair (my tank apparently developed a crack). The G48 coolant leaked and my front tire sprayed it around the wheel well and was also dripping onto my garage (and it doesn't wash off easily without soap/detergent--it has a very thin...
  2. What is your "minor wish?"

Another one of our other cars has solar windshield glass for heat rejection (white Lexus RX450h with panoramic roof). I notice that it stays a bit cooler than the white R1S when sitting out in the sun at work. I would imagine if the R1S had it, it would be cooler a well.
  3. What is your "minor wish?"

I also would put a nod to a "no glass roof" option or a moveable sunshade. The Rivian glass doesn't reject infrared heat very well. I put up internal glass roof covers since last summer and I haven't missed it one bit (my head no longer sweats and my AC works much faster).
  4. What is your "minor wish?"

R1S. Being able to customize the rear hatch auto-opening height. My previous SUVs allowed me to select a range of rear hatch height openings (esp. if you have a lower garage door) during the auto open operation. On the R1S, it's currently fully open or a pop open (unlock only).
  5. Phone App Door Unlocking issue: UI design bug? (proximity unlock works fine)

Looks like Rivian finally made 2 separate buttons for lock and unlock in the latest app release—makes more sense to use. Before, it appeared to be a toggle or slider with both buttons on a lozenge pill shaped icon.
  6. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

I also squeezed some 6mm round cord weatherstrip here at the junction of the top A pillar and chrome trim. It reduced the cross wind buffeting.
  7. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

It’s in the photos on my original post. It’s the outermost 1/4” or so weatherstrip—looks quite stock. Pretty much the same procedure as the OP. I just put the red markings of the extra adhesive strip locations.
  8. Guide: R1S / R1T Wind Noise FIX!

For starters, I just did 2 of the suggested items and my car already seems significantly quieter--thanks for the suggestions OP. I skipped adding the round foam on the interior door frame glass seals for the time being. 1. L-weatherstrip around the innermost front and rear door openings on the...
  9. QuikrStuff Mach 2 Hitch Review 1 to 4 bike rack with R1s

Good review on the QuikrStuff Mach2 bike rack--something I was eyeing. Not to my liking, I feel that the rack is too close/touching the rear plastic bumper. However, that rack does seem very solid overall. I heard the original QuickrStuff designers sold their 1UP company and now that the...
  10. Phone App Door Unlocking issue: UI design bug? (proximity unlock works fine)

Issue: When using the phone app for the last month or so (v 2.19.1), when I tap the door lock/unlock toggle, the car just chirps and locks the door. I couldn't seemingly use my phone app door lock/unlock toggle button to unlock the door. Proximity unlock works. This annoyed me for the longest...
  11. Wind noise: possible root cause?

They definitely just replaced the top windshield metal trim and left the black top piece behind it in place. I had some PPF on the top leading edge black piece (just in front of the smoked glass top) and you can still see it there after they worked on the metal trim replacement. Of course, my...
  12. Wind noise: possible root cause?

After some complaints from me in first 4 months of ownership, Rivian replaced the top most metal strip on top of the windshield as it was slight loose/lifted by about 2-3mm for about 5" (you could push it down at the upper edge and wasn't flush down). My R1S was making some wind buffeting noise...
  13. New 21" tire option - Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 275/55-21 @ $380

As of today (8/14/2024), Discount Tires is showing as 2-6 days availability to my location. I wonder how efficient they are vs the OEM 21" Pirellis. I'm at 4.5k miles on my Pirellis and they look to last 20-30K. https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/michelin-defender-ltx-m-s2/p/169929
  14. Tesla Universal Charger review (J1772 and NACS): Best available single charger

Zero issues from my end. Plug it into the Rivian R1S (J1772 connector) or the Tesla (NACS connector) and it reliably works as expected. Haven't needed to restart it yet.
  15. Tesla Universal Charger review (J1772 and NACS): Best available single charger

Sounds like a charger issue. Create a Tesla support ticket. Or if you are in the return window, refund it and get a new one. Also, you can also try a hard reboot of your Rivian (hold down the hazard button and the left most steering wheel toggle tab for 15 seconds) to see if that helps.
  16. Tesla Universal Charger review (J1772 and NACS): Best available single charger

You may want to give a ticket started with Tesla support. The biggest thing is to select ALL VEHICLES when provisioning, which it appears that you did. Also when I first provisioned the Tesla Universal charger, I installed the latest firmware update. I wonder if it's the dock's internal J1772...
  17. Did I buy a lemon?

Per my delivery guide, you can refuse the car upon delivery and you would be put in queue back in the Rivian shop. He was very careful that I didn't accept the car unless I was 100% sure. Mine had minor body panel alignment issues, a chipped glass roof, a hood ding, a scratched front bumper...
  18. Tesla Universal Charger review (J1772 and NACS): Best available single charger

You could easily get a 14-50 male plug with a loose end and wire it directly to the Tesla universal charger, then plug that into the wall receptacle that you have, if you don't want to hard wire it. EDIT: Here are examples that could work ...
  19. What benefit does a wall charger offer vs. cable alone?

If you want to get 1 wall charger with both J1772 and NACS charging ports, consider the newly released Tesla Universal Wall charger. It has a J1772 sleeve adapter built in along with a NACS port so you can it for both the Rivian and Tesla (my use case scenario as well--its's quite convenient)...
  20. Tesla Universal Charger review (J1772 and NACS): Best available single charger

Background I needed a Level 2 charger for my 2 EVs: Rivian R1S and Tesla S Plaid. When I got the Plaid earlier this year, it was an occasional weekend car so the 120V wall plug worked just fine (4 miles/hr), as I also have an ICE SUV. However, with the R1S, being a daily driver, less efficient...
