    New Jersey Rivian Owners

@mikysee Important to keep your bearings in place, can get lost even on larger roads. Also avoid larger puddles, never know how deep they are.

Ghetto method of powering the house with a Rivian

This came up a lot. Easy answer: I'm getting solar installed, but for that I first need to remove trees that cast shadow on the roof, then I need the actual roof replaced, then electrical panel upgraded and only then begin permit/build/install process of solar. So it makes no sense to do any...

Ghetto method of powering the house with a Rivian

That's exactly my train of thought. Rivian said many times that it's V2H capable but no info beyond that. I paid 80k for this thing and I'm gonna use every damn feature available. If they don't deliver V2H people will go even further, did you know that under passenger seat you can get direct...

    Disabling eSim

eSim is by definition is not a physical thing. The only physical way of disabling it would be destroying modem chip. Cheaper to get a LTE jammer on aliexpress

Tire wear - how are your OEM Pirelli's or other brand holding up?

My 20s are absolutely awesome. The first set I wore down around 30k, but that's with some major off-roading and generally driving with regards to the gas pedal as an on-off switch. I replaced them with another set of OEM 20s and I'm perfectly happy with them.

Ghetto method of powering the house with a Rivian

Unless you got a Frigidaire from 60's most of modern fridges have variable speed compressors and can do "soft" start. Even with regular compressor if the rest of the house uses about 600w then there's enough headroom for compressor to start. I have three fridges (GE Cafe, older french door...

Ghetto method of powering the house with a Rivian

I usually just look outside at neighbor's houses 12V is very under-powered, I think it's running off a 20A fuse or something like that.

Ghetto method of powering the house with a Rivian

( This post is regularly updated to incorporate new information and reflect (usable) feedback from your comments) Disclaimer - this is very dangerous so only attempt this if you know what you're doing or desperate (like I am). This is very much a last resort. No need to tell me how stupid and...

Brooklyn SC f-n sucks, hopefully you won't have to deal with them anytime soon. It's just the way it is.

    Requesting Rivian to Replace Tires

Very unlikely. If you had 500 miles and had steel cord sticking out then yes, they might have given it a second thought. 8000 is more than some people get, I've seen bald tires at 6k.

Those that had their windshields replaced, share your experience with insurance process, please (+ video of my accident)

So far I opened claim with Geico, they confirmed that Safelite cannot replace it and I have to go through dealer/shop, pay for replacement and then get reimbursed. Rivian sent me two local shops, I selected Ultimate Collision Repair in Edison. They looked at the car today, took some pics and had...

Will this cooktop burner work with Rivian?

Get induction one instead, they use a lot less power and since they're 'digital' they can deal with voltage drops. I was using cooktop and a kettle at the same time and both worked, albeit slowly.

Those that had their windshields replaced, share your experience with insurance process, please (+ video of my accident)

Had a pebble almost through my windshield today when an 18-wheeler in the opposite lane went off left lane onto gravel shoulder. This was shortly after 5, I called Rivian right away to schedule an appointment but instead they sent me two local certified collision centers. I then called Geico and...

Anyone know why the Rivian is capped to top speed of 115mph?

At max speed the motors are rotating at something like 40k RPM so it's simply out of gearing.

Black Screens, can't drive, but everything else still works?

It's more than 15 seconds, try good 30-45 seconds for hard reset (left + hazard).

PSA : print this sign before using spare tire / tire rotation by tire shop

Yes, the S have a compact spare that no one cares if it's scratched. The T's have a full-sized spare under the bed.
