  1. R1S Gen 2 C Pillar Dimples

Yeahp, was also present in G1 although not as common. Every single G2 I saw at delivery had it. Looks like it comes from the stamping.
  2. Half-Shaft issue thread

Yep - identical on our Quad. Just reached out to service manager. No new PN’s or redesign. He offered to swap half axels and hubs, that’s about it.
  3. Half-Shaft issue thread

The truth is, they need to redesign the half shafts, or switch suppliers. How do we get Rivian’s interest in doing so?
  4. Half-Shaft issue thread

Na, doesn’t sound right. It’s the shaft play on the axel. You can feel it if you move it by hand.
  5. Half-Shaft issue thread

Because the design inherently has not changed between either G1 or G2 generation. I will say, the Cybertruck does not do this.
  6. Half-Shaft issue thread

Let me know what you find. I’m curious to see if there is a new manufacturer or design out there. Have them replaced. I’m about to endeavor with this shortly.
  7. New Rivian OEM drawer installed on Gen1

Yeahp - I did this back in January before it was officially released. It’s not officially supported because it doesn’t lock to the front guides in the tunnel like G2. Not a biggie, but you could also retrofit that from the G2 if you wanted.
  8. Gen 1 Rolling Suspension changes

How can we access the parts system?
  9. Gen 1 Rolling Suspension changes

Our G1 had them replaced last year for what I believe are G2 parts. Front air springs have PT00614437C with the Firestone sign. Rear air springs have PT00384162D with Firestone sign as well. I do remember seeing a Tri motor at the service center with the same rear dampers as I have on our G1.
  10. Upgrade Gen1 cameras to Gen2?

They very well might not be. I don’t have pictures.
  11. Upgrade Gen1 cameras to Gen2?

Yeah, it’s fluid. Have seen it first hand.
  12. Upgrade Gen1 cameras to Gen2?

That’s not entirely accurate. The second plug you see on G2 is the washer fluid inlet, not power. Agreed, they are different mostly because of this.
  13. RJ quote: more sensors (including radar & lidar) is a way to catch up to Tesla's camera-only autonomous driving system

Mark my words - lol In about 4 months, G2 owners bout to be pissed new HW suite coming. Im a G1 owner, but it doesn’t make a difference to me. Rivian is years behind having anything usable and reliable. RJ is smart, but if you’re smart and need to collect data he’ll be pitching exactly as Elon...
  14. R1T : Gen 1 vs Gen 2... worth it?

If you’re saving money over 60 mths, sure. If you start losing money, or have to pay more I wouldn’t consider it. Specially since you have a 2023, which already has many of the hardware from the G2 without the cost cutting.
  15. Suspension rattling - help diagnosing root cause

Drove in a G2 dual last night around my neighborhood (which I know all the bumps and clunks from our G1). Same clunks and noise suspension as our G1. Short, this is still present in G2 cars.
  16. Savage Geese review of 2025 R1S Gen2

This reaffirms what I’ve felt myself. About 90% of the ride changes on a G2 are already in place in G1 via software changes on the spring rates. When G2 came out, that same week all R1S had an update for ride comfort. This is why in my eyes, it does not make sense to change a G1 to a G2 if what...
  17. Motortrend Gen2 2025 R1T Tri Max Review

Exactly lol - the G1 quad is NOT a disappointment. G2 is a disappointment lol.
  18. Suspension rattling - help diagnosing root cause

Correct. And actually, I did some more research. GKN Drivelines are who makes it for Rivian. See image from shipping label on EBay link. https://www.ebay.com/itm/116385142713 As long as we want the travel that R1 brings, they need to use these axels that allow a third axis of movement...
