Yep - identical on our Quad. Just reached out to service manager. No new PN’s or redesign. He offered to swap half axels and hubs, that’s about it.
Let me know what you find. I’m curious to see if there is a new manufacturer or design out there. Have them replaced. I’m about to endeavor with this shortly.
Yeahp - I did this back in January before it was officially released. It’s not officially supported because it doesn’t lock to the front guides in the tunnel like G2. Not a biggie, but you could also retrofit that from the G2 if you wanted.
Our G1 had them replaced last year for what I believe are G2 parts. Front air springs have PT00614437C with the Firestone sign. Rear air springs have PT00384162D with Firestone sign as well.
I do remember seeing a Tri motor at the service center with the same rear dampers as I have on our G1.
Mark my words - lol In about 4 months, G2 owners bout to be pissed new HW suite coming.
Im a G1 owner, but it doesn’t make a difference to me. Rivian is years behind having anything usable and reliable. RJ is smart, but if you’re smart and need to collect data he’ll be pitching exactly as Elon...
If you’re saving money over 60 mths, sure. If you start losing money, or have to pay more I wouldn’t consider it. Specially since you have a 2023, which already has many of the hardware from the G2 without the cost cutting.
Drove in a G2 dual last night around my neighborhood (which I know all the bumps and clunks from our G1). Same clunks and noise suspension as our G1. Short, this is still present in G2 cars.
This reaffirms what I’ve felt myself. About 90% of the ride changes on a G2 are already in place in G1 via software changes on the spring rates. When G2 came out, that same week all R1S had an update for ride comfort. This is why in my eyes, it does not make sense to change a G1 to a G2 if what...
Correct. And actually, I did some more research.
GKN Drivelines are who makes it for Rivian. See image from shipping label on EBay link.

As long as we want the travel that R1 brings, they need to use these axels that allow a third axis of movement...
