2 days in new R1S, initial thoughts for new EV owners

AT’s are definitely stickier but they will get eaten by a 7,000 beast with 800+ hp and you should have a massive smile on your face even when putting new tires on it.
For reference, a friend took his t with 20’s on a 12k road trip right after purchase. He ran conserve and high regen and ate his front tires (only fronts) in 10k! It’s also a lot louder, 6 db to be exact. He’s contemplating a second set of rims with the 21’s for the noise reduction and ease of switching summer to winter himself. But I agree that 20’s have more tire options.

Don’t use conserve. I stick with sport / low / stiff and when I have family I stick with all purpose, low and stiff. If roads are rough with family I switch to soft and standard but still all purpose.

I haven’t tried conserve and don’t plan to.

I’m not worried about tire cost.

Many members will sell you factory takeoff 20” AT for $350 so they can switch to A/S tires to get range back.

Also I only drive 5000-7000 miles a year.
