21” On road tires

I noticed my tires at 9k miles are starting to show wear prematurely in my opinion service said I would need to bring all the way into Richmond Va from NC to have them checked. This is kinda disappointing that a Perrelli dealer can’t warranty the tires locally. Has anyone else noticed their tire’s wearing?

There are posts about early wear. I would run a few searches. Don't know the issue as I am short timing on snow tires with massive tread, so maybe I should stop launching on those : ).

Do you use Conserve mode? If so, don’t. It chews through tires.

is your alignment bad? This is a widespread issue for Rivian.

I just had my tires rotated at about 10k miles for the second time. Tires all had about 8mm of tread depth left. I’m not sure where the 21s start (thinking probably around 11mm). I drive about 70 miles a day and mostly highway in conserve. I just try to put it back into all purpose or sport every time I get off the highway.

new vehicle tyres rarely have manufacturers warranties. Wear at 9k isn't unusual for such a heavy vehicle with regen. Did you have them rotated already?

Discount Tire doesn’t even have the plug to fit a Rivian yet and said they have been trained and will get the plugs at the end of the month.
He quoted me a price of 2k total for new tires for my 21” rims. After 5 months of ownership I find that disappointing that I need to set aside 2k$ every 5 months or so. ?

I figure I will need tires at 15k-18k miles. I am at 10,500 right now. This is normal for this vehicle. What you save in gas you spend in tires lol.

Thanks. That explains the cost of $500 each tire. I might need to revisit the idea of upgrading to 20" or 22". Which one has more options at the moment?

tire rack has the OEM 21's for $443 and the OEM 20's for $436 so seems like size doesn't matter

Thanks. May not be worthwhile for the "upgrade" then. Perhaps those sizes have better availability?

Yes Discount Tire was surprised that the OEM Pirelli’s was the only option available at 2k$ for the set. But couldn’t install until they received the jack plugs to jack up my vehicle ? He did say they just got trained on how to jack up a Rivian maybe online im guessing.

Is the rotation pattern for a four tire rotation cross swap or front to back? I assume cross and am too lazy to check the manual.
