21" wheels paint chip by aero wheel cover

Hi everyone! I took off the Aero covers from the wheels today to give them a good wash and noticed paint chips where the cover sits on the wheel. This is on every wheel. Has anyone else had this issue? Would this be something that the warranty would cover? I was hoping to take them off and buy center caps, but this is too upsetting.

I put rimetrix foam strips on my T and you just reminded me I need to do the same with the wife's R1S. I doubt Rivian will cover on warranty unfortunately.

Tesla did the same thing though it was less noticeable on the Gemeni wheels due to the wheel underneath being a lighter color.

On the positive side its a good excuse to get them powder coated ?

When I took my truck into have PPF installed, the first thing the detail shop did was take the aero covers off and told me not to put them back on, because they could already see some subtle marring in the clear coat of the wheels. They've been sitting in storage ever since.

Known issue. That's why it's recommended to remove them as soon as possible after purchase unless you really like the look of them.

I removed them immediately.
Better Efficiency with them on is negligible if anything.
They also look better without them.
Rivian sells the center caps in a pack of four. Overpriced, but they look stock.

I found the threads after I posted. I wish I had seen them before I bought the SUV. I’ve been diligent on reading all the posts that come up, but this issues has not come up since before August 2023 when I took delivery. I hope this renews the threads and others take them off asap.

I know, I know. Ugly is on the eye.
Found the covers nasty ugly from day one. Bought the center wheel plugs from Rivian, $25 each! Removed the covers since close to day one. Wheels look so much better without them. Unknown what little efficiency I might have lost. Drive standard height all-purpose mode forever ; worst case I have seen is 2 miles/kWh. Rivians are electron guzzlers as it is. Range with and without covers is 308. Not sure why my R1S showed 308 range from day one, but that's a topic for another day.
