Thread is 2 years old. There isn't a native SMS function yet—it's coming. Use your phone's own native voice assistant for now as work-around, whether it's Siri or Google.

Alexa really doesn't have the ability to send text messages from ANY device. For this to be supported in a Rivian requires changes to Alexa, or requires Rivian to implement their own system.
