It seems Amazon is stepping up its interest in the car industry.

Amazon also owns 17% of Rivian, as we know.

Hmm… 🤔

If it combines dealers AND Amazon, that is too much skullduggery for my brain to handle.

As much as I kinda hate Amazon, I certainly hate them less than car dealerships. It’ll be interesting what the model looks like and whether Amazon can make it work.
It doesn't change a damn thing. You shop and browse available cars like you would anyway on Amazon (instead of crappy dealer site), you pay the price shown, no haggling, no negotiations. Amazon might handle the financial transcation. Dealers will still handle delivery and service.

Amazon has been trying to get with car manufacturers (I work for one) and dealers (because of state laws banning direct sales) for years. This has zero benefit to the consumer. It gives manufacturers and Amazon something seemingly positive and tech-forward to tell Wall St. It gives dealers another space to get eyes-on and generate leads.

Nothing else.
