I think you can actually see a water seal on that part and it does look like a 1 time use thing.

hmmm, Its reasonable to assume that the R1S mounts in the same manner. That would mena the chamber that creates needs to be water tight, and the antenna fin could be an opening to that. ? That would seem risky, because the glue on the stock antenna didn't look particularly water tight, but it could be enough glued down.

I've unfortunately been in this position. The antenna popped off and comically cracked my panoramic roof. I replaced the glass and used a silicon weatherproof sealant for that damned shark fin. Good as new.

@fireroasted If you already have it uncovered and are able to unplug the board I'd be curious to see how your vampire drain changes if communication is cut off. I don't think anyone has figured out which fuse runs the LTE board yet.
Thanks! (but also don't break anything more on my behalf)

I already 3M taped the fin back on. ITs not coming off unless with the same force that ripped it off to begin with. I took pics, but did not try unplugging. The corner of the board broke but so far everything is working. I couldn't figure out from posts what exactly that board is for? FM? WiFi?

If I take it off again I will certainly get tons of pics. If I take the headliner out, then I will be able to remove it if needed. That would be the next thing to figure out. Has it lost any of the ability to water seal the roof, or is it just bent a little.

I need to find pics of how the interior panels are fixed, so I know where to pull so as not to break any tabs of hte interior trim pieces.

Glad you have it back together and good luck with future R1 endeavors!

Has anyone removed the interior panels of the R1S, or have pics to identify where fasteners are located to avoid breaking things. If they are like the X5 I may likely need to purchase replacements of hte snaps in order to get it back together in a solid non squeaking manner.

I am not concerved about the sharkfin seal to the panel. THe 3M tape and silicone I used will be fine there. I am worried that since the panel itself has been bent upwards in the niddle that potentially it seperated the seal between it and the frame of the body. I can't see under there, and even tried a 'camera wire' that I threaded in between.

I could try remove the interior panels so I could water test on my own, or I could remove the panel
from the inside, but as pointed out removel is going all in on replacement because I would have to defeat all of the remaining glue, for possibly no reason. So figuring out if there is a leak between the panel and metal body is the key.
