Maybe. But Tesla wheel design is damage-prone. The wheels are wider than the tires and the tires are pretty low profile. So that puts Tesla wheels at a lot of risk for things like curb rash and chain scratches.Chains WILL scratch your wheels. Huge complaints on Tesla boards about this especially with dark wheels.
Based on the above photos, those chains/equipment move around quite a bit when driving down the road. Guarantee it will mar the rims. Post back after use and prove me wrong. Rivian wheels are not as exposed and less likely to get damaged.

This makes a lot of sense. What I did after this post is getting 4 20" AT and Rivian MS came out and installed them. Will wait on chains to see if ppl are using them and the results. I was concerned about calibration after so I could change them on my own, but MS tech says that is done automatically after you drive a few miles. My $0.02 is to just save your money and wait. I also do a lot of winter snow driving in the Pacific NW (I-80 over Donner Pass). 22 years of M+S tire with AWD has always been good enough for me and I'm hoping that four independent motors will result in even more confident performance.
Snowsocks seem like a pain (just like chains) and you're probably limited to 25 MPH when they're on (just like chains). You also typically don't need them when you have M+S and AWD except for really gnarly roads. At least in my neck of the CA woods.
My only worry is that the Rivian is as heavy as like two of my current car. Does that mean it'll do better or worse in snow? IDK. I ordered 21s (ATs were not available) and am debating getting a set of 20" ATs to put on cheap wheels that fit (although those don't seem to exist yet). We'll see if I need them.
Any experience in snow with these yet? Are you happy with the size or would you rather have bought the SZ468 (next size up)?Just bought these:
