Apple Watch with Gen2 R1S?

Hello members,

I just got my Performance Dual motor Gen2 R1S delivered couple of days back. Apart from some quirks, which Rivian said they will fix, vehicle is solid for most part.

Has any one been able to use (open/ close, start vehicle) Apple Watch on their Gen2 vehicles? I tired looking on my phone and watch but can’t find any settings to enable it.

You can add shortcuts for your Apple Watch. On your iPhone, go to shortcuts and search for Rivian. Once setup edit the shortcut to show on your watch.

I don’t believe there is a start vehicle option.

The vehicle is basically started once you get in, so no need for that shortcut.

I thought it did support it. Mine is being delivered at the end of next week so I can’t check myself, but I have the Apple key on a BMW i4. For that car there is a menu in the app to “setup a digital key”.

Yes, concur with above. I actually just asked Rivian support this very question because Apple Watch as a Key is in the ads. They confirmed that hasn’t been released yet and is coming later.

I love my R1S but the locking and unlocking experience is inferior to Tesla. I hope they deploy the apple wallet keys using UWB as they have advertised. Yes it’s a first world problem but it is seemingly random whether it will auto unlock or I have to tap the handles or use the App. In my 2018 model 3 it just always works.
