Hello,
I'm getting ready to take possession of my R1T sometime in the next few weeks (hopefully). I'm super excited, but also slightly anxious because I live in an apartment building and won't be able to plug my vehicle in overnight to charge.

This will be my first electric car. I mostly work from home and probably only drive 500miles / month max so I don't think it's super crucial that I plug in overnight, but I wanted to see how others who might have a similar situation in the California Bay Area are faring with their new purchase. I live on the peninsula in Pacifica, and there are EVGO charge stations nearby which are an option, but I don't know how reliable they are from reports I'm reading.

I do have chargers available to me @ work if I drive in to the office in Menlo Park, but that's 30miles one way (60 total) and I typically only go to the office once a month or so, but might have to increase frequency if that's my best charging option.

Anyone else not have a charger at home in the Bay Area and able to keep their vehicle charged without issue?

Thanks for any insight

Charging infrastructure in Pacifica is poor. If you move over on the other side of San Andreas fault, you will find places like Powerflex who setup chargers at local schools and they are even free at night. I see plenty of stinking teslas always juicing them up.

Look at plugshare and see what they have listed near you.

Do they have parking or a parking garage? Several apartments in LA and Orange County are starting to install EV chargers. You might want to talk to the owner or manager to see if that is something they might do.

It would end up being an amenity that would draw tenants, especially with the direction CA is going to push for EVs.

That's an average of 125 mi/wk. Even with vampire drain, that's <50% of range.

Just charge once a week ot wherever makes sense based on what you are doing and forget about it (e.g., on a weekend, charge while getting lunch, grocery shopping, etc...)

Thanks for the advice folks.

As has been noted, given my anticipated low mileage, I'm thinking it won't be an issue. I do live within walking distance of one of the few EVGO chargers in Pacifica so leaving it there overnight a few times a month might be all I need. I guess i'll take possession of it and drive it around for a month before I make a final decision on whether charging is a hassle or no big deal.

I was hoping they would open an Adventure Network charging station somewhere on the peninsula before I took possession. My original ship date was summer 2023, but now that i'm getting it early it looks like the closest RAN station is in Sacramento.

Are there any ETAs for RAN stations on the peninsula?

NO, NO, NO...

Goto a fast charging station that can charge the vehicle within an hour or so to maintain sufficient level for your needs for the week. EVgo has 150kWh chargers as well as other charging companies.

I wold not leave the vehicle unattended charging overnight.
