Curious if any R1T owner in CA has already received by mail their new plates/tags and Registration paperwork? If so, about how many weeks approx. from truck delivery to mailbox yellow envelope?

It was a 2-3 weeks after delivery that I got the plates and registration.

Anyone know how to go about get the black plates? My guide says they can't order them for me as part of the registration process.

There were no choices given when my first Rivian R1T plates came. I applied online for personalized plates that replaced them in the black/yellow. Not sure if you can apply (or go into local DMV office) to switch the plate design without doing a personalized choice.

Simply go the the CA DMV website to order and be prepared to shell out $50. It usually takes 4-9 months to receive them.

(Delivery 9 DEC, plates paper says 14DEC submission, received plated in mail 20DEC)

Does anyone else have COMMERCIAL vehicle use listed on the registration?

Not sure if it's a GVW thing or a clerical error, as I am not a company

This was the same for me back in March. Mine shipped from Rivian instead of the DMV for some reason.

How quickly can I do this? I have to wait until I get the plates in? I tried doing it with the temp plates and it wouldn't let me do it online-- said the plate number and vin didn't match.

Yes. You need your newly assigned permanent plate # and VIN

I received my CA plates at the last week of November, and had a month left before my temporary plates will expire in Dec 31. This is after I inquired at the DMV office how long will I received my plates, and found out Rivian was the hold out. There was a problem with my down payment, they lost my cashier's check and had my bank cancel it and issue me another check but this time they FedEx it straight to them.
It was only after I got my plates I was able to order personalized plates (Black and yellow) and after 2 weeks order a new set of plates (personalized) again still using my permanent (current) plate number. And now waiting which one will arrive, the first or second order.
I was really hoping to get the Blue and yellow plates but somehow that is not available.

There are no current blue and yellow plates. The only historic ones a available are the black and yellow— it won the dmv poll they did a few years back (I voted for yellow and blue, actually)
