I've searched but have been unable to find a very important feature (to me, anyway) in the R1T that my current 2016 Tesla Model S has: calendar integration with my phone. Pretty straightforward - I don't need CarPlay in my Tesla because the mapping is so good - I hop in my car, the synced calendar loads up on my screen, and I simply press the calendar input of my next meeting, away I go with navigation, assuming I've inputted an address in the calendar invite.

Does anyone know if this is a coming feature for Rivian, given we don't expect CarPlay or AA?

It is interesting. I have not used this function.

This would be a nice feature to have.

Every time I read another one of these single feature* requests it convinces me even more strongly that when you add them all up the best way for Rivian to satisfy the most customers with the least amount of work is to include CarPlay and Android Auto.

Even if Rivian added native versions of every app and capability provided by CarPlay today, there is something new coming that people are going to be clamoring for. It would only be a matter of days, weeks, or months until someone posted a new single feature request* on here.

* I don’t need CarPlay but I do need this one thing that CarPlay would provide if it were present.

I don't disagree, but I will say this: I have CarPlay in my Palisade and it works very well, but I actually prefer the Tesla app where I can send addresses from Google Maps directly to my car's nav, and the calendar sync just works better - I never have a problem with the selection of the address in the Tesla like I do with with CarPlay.

If you have an address in a calendar appointment in your phone, how is CarPlay giving you a problem with the selection of the address to start navigating? Is this related to Apple not supporting a change to the default mapping app yet? I’m just curious.

Sometimes when I click into a calendar event, there is no "clickable" address. This is usually from events that are loaded into Apple Calendar / synced from other apps (ie, PlayMetrics, TeamSnap, etc). But in the Tesla, the calendar is able to ingest those regardless of original source, and therefore I can click into them and go.

I work with tech so please forgive the questions; I like getting things to work the way people expect them to. I haven’t encountered that behavior but I’m not using those other apps either. Is the Tesla app grabbing the exact same address from the calendar or is it getting the address directly from the other apps?

The only time I experienced issues like this in the past was when I had a suite or floor number in an address where Maps didn’t expect it so it wasn’t considered a valid address. I’m pretty sure that got fixed within the last few versions of iOS.
