My first EV here. My first time camping too.
I am planning a camping trip at Glacier park. There seems to be a serious lack of chargers there. I have 3 days there and a large battery . We will be needing AC which I noticed will eat some of the battery.
Has any one been there and have any tips . We will be stayed by on the East side.

First time camping ever or just with your Rivian? Please give us a little more information, such as:
  • Are you planning to sleep in the Rivian or will you have a tent?
  • What other electrical use will you need while camping
  • What route are you taking to get there?
A quick look at PlugShare shows that there are Tesla SC's in Kalispell that are open to us:

If Kalispell is on your route you could charge up to 90% or so there on your way into and out of the park and you'd likely be fine.

You also may not need A/C even if you're sleeping in the Rivian in Glacier. It might be worth it to buy some screens for your windows like these.

You probably will not need AC, especially at night. More likely you will need heat. You will be bear proof inside your Rivian, just don't keep any food in the vehicle, use the food lockers. If you can stay in a camp site with electrical hook ups you will be able to use heat and electrical plugs for cooking without depleting your battery, but probably won't gain much in battery charge. If camp sites have 30amp service you can probably get some extra mileage but make sure you have the correct adaptor for your portable charger. I have not been to Glacier in about 20 years and last time I was there I camped in my Suburban so can't provide specific knowledge for getting there or camping in the Rivian.

I was at West Glacier with a max battery just this weekend. It was cold and wet, but warmer weather will still mean 40s-60s F at night. (AC is not a big concern)

Kalispell has a great Tesla Supercharger, as mentioned, but it's on the wrong side of the park for your trip, and it's 50 minutes away from West Glacier.

Others have stayed overnight in closer places with L2 chargers before/after the Park visit.

Depending on your route in, Fernie also has a great Tesla Supercharger. But your premise is correct: nearby fast charging is not available.

Please write back with how your trip goes and what you found.

Hey Rivian, adventurers could use a RAN location near Glacier National Park.

We stayed at the KOA in west glacier/st Mary last august and the KOA has an EV charger(was a bit expensive) that we were able to use to fully charge up overnight. The EV charger is behind the check in office so if you are planning to sleep in the car, you may not be able to charge overnight. It worked well for us since we were in a cabin in the KOA. Yes that area could use some chargers for sure.

I assume you mean Glacier National* Park...? If so, there are multiple east side campgrounds... Many Glacier, St Mary, Two Medicine, even up in Canada at Waterton you're still in Glacier/Waterton international Park.

So. Where are you going?
