In Oregon, were you able to bring a cashier's check at the time of delivery/pick up to cover payment?
I was told I cannot do that in the state of Oregon, but we were able to bring a check for our Tesla, so I'm simply curious.

We received our R1S on March 25th of this year. We did not bring a Cashier check upon taking possession of our vehicle. We did everything online as requested by Rivian with no issues. Not sure why you would need a Cashier check, but my advice would be to handle everything online as requested.

Because, as others have previously said, I don't want to hand over $80k without taking possession of my vehicle. <shrug>

And, since it was an option for others on this forum (perhaps outside of Oregon) as well as Tesla buyers (even in Oregon), I was curious.

It's the same up here in WA as I was told (no cashier's check). That's what led me to seek clarification on the return policy in case I get stuck with one I am not happy with. However, I have read reports of refund (deposits) taking "forever." I won't be thrilled if it takes several months to get my $80K+ back.

I understand your concern. Most here have made the payment ahead of delivery without issues as you have 7 days/1k miles to return the R1. I also used the online pay method. It was very easy. All the best.

I had planned on doing everything in advance via ACH or wire transfer. However, due to the fact that I sold my previous truck late (1 week prior), as well as a lot of confusion between Rivian (guide, contact, purchase ops representative) and my bank, I was told I should send in cashiers checks (yes, plural).
My bank had said they would send a single transfer to cover the entire cost but because of the wording in the Purchase Agreement and how it has a down payment of x amount, there was a hiccup. We finally got to a resolution of my bank cutting two checks, one for the "down payment" and a second for the financed amount. I asked about endorsing the check and bank teller said I don't do that because I'm not the payee.
I mailed off the checks for express delivery, then the next morning my guide tells me I have to endorse the checks before I send them. Too late, I already sent them (and had shared the tracking number). Turns out Rivian would accept the checks without my endorsement (they're made out directly to Rivian, not me, and they should be receiving them today).
Anyway, now I'm just rambling. Long story short, I was just curious about the confusion about whether or not they can accept the CC at time of delivery, which it even says in the purchase tasks. My delivery day is tomorrow and everything is done and ready to go. Time to move on to enjoying my new R1S.

My purchase was in California. However, I did use a cashiers check. Rivian pushed back several times on me trying to get me to do everything ACH. I explained why I wanted to use a cashiers check and they excepted that. I don’t see how they can legally object to a cashiers check. Did you search Oregon law to see if there’s a reason why cashiers check is not valid?

Nah, didn't bother. It's all done now and I have the vehicle. Happy with the end result.
