I’ve had a problem the last few weeks and wanted to see if anyone else has had this.

A few months ago, I noticed my truck was not charging to its set level by the next morning.
After doing some diving into the charging sessions, my truck used to charge at a consistent 11.1kw, and now it changed to charging at 11.1kw/hr to 7.3kw/h regardless of the SOC of the battery.

working with Rivian we had qmerit give me a new charger and install it, I replaced the 60am breaker to make sure that was good, and Rivian replaced the HV harness on the charging port. I’ve restarted the truck and the charger multiple times. Inspected the connections at the breaker and the charger that show no signs of burn/damage/issues.

Now charging it again at home, the rate starts at 11.1kw/h for 10 minutes, the 7.3kw/h for 20 minutes then I get an error of “vehicle error. Unplug and try again.”

I also took the truck to a 350kw/h fast charger with 50% SOC with now one else charging and only was pulling about 90kw/h. And another fast charger wouldn’t even recognize the truck to get it started charging.

I’ve always had the truck charge rate at 48amps and all three switches on the Rivian wall charger in the highest position. Nothing has changed in my practices.

Thoughts?

I see you tried to DCFC and had a similar issue, but can you replicate the problem at a public L2 station? DCFC will bypass the onboard charger. If the problem exists at a public L2 station, you can at least narrow down the issue to the truck itself.

Tried it this AM on a public level 2 19.5kw charger at 54% SOC. Only pulling 9.4kw from it.

That could also just be a 40A EVSE. That's about what I get at home on a 50A circuit.
