Yesterday I pulled the R1T out of the garage and walked away. I checked the charge range and it had dropped 8 percent in 2 hours. Poked around in the app and found that interior heat was set to max and it was 111 degrees in the vehicle. Anyone seen this before? Tips on preventing it?

My first guess is inadvertent touching of your phone. When my truck does unexpected things, most of the time it was the Rivian app equivalent of a butt dial, and I was touching windows, climate, alarm(!) buttons while putting my phone away, etc.

Some sort of user error but not unheard of case of Rivian continuing to HVAC the vehicle. Not sure why it's max heat, but a touch to defrost botton may have occurred.

I the cases I've seen.

Was the car locked in the App? If you leave the vehicle with a door slightly ajar it will continue to HVAC that temp forever. I heard the HVAC running after I walked away and went back to shut the door....Rivian locked and all good.

Seatbelt connected somewhere else in the car or something on the front seat? Rivian may think there are still occupants and HVAC forever. Happened to someone on the forum.

There are other reasons the HVAC will continue, don't have all of them, most likely the case, not a random heating event.

I would not be concerned until this happens twice in a week.
