Cold weather performance

We are planning a trip to the mountains next weekend and the temperatures are projected to be high of 12 and lows of 6 all weekend. If there is any ice we will take our Outback with Blizzaks.

We live 80 miles from the lodge and it has a Telsa charger and the charger in the attached photo.

I was going to charge to 92% (~305 mi) and hope one of the onsite chargers is working.
Does anyone have any experience with cold weather performance?

View this thread. Your efficiency numbers might be different than mine because of speed, elevation etc but the percent change with temperature will provably be similar.

Charging in cold weather can take longer because the charger will be putting energy into heating the battery first then adding charge.

Are there any very recent check ins on PlugShare for the chargers? The comments are helpful about assessing if the chargers are functioning.

I live high in the mountains and if I'm not plugged in I lose 2% per day, I don't think it has to do with the cold though, only reason I would lose more than that was if I was parked outside and it had to heat the battery. If you're able to plug in at any point I don't think you'll have an issue

Can you plug into on 120 volt outlet with the mobile charger. If those charges are unavailable? That would be the next best thing, but on the 120 volt charger you may still lose some range due to the cold temps but at least it will be better than not being plugged in at all.

As far as your range, it's totally fine to charge it to 100% right before you leave. You just don't want to charge it to 100% daily or charge it to 100% and leave it sit. If I were in your situation I would charge to 100% just before I set out.

I believe the auto regen stops at 93%. I prefer to drive with it.
But you are right, I will probably charge to 100% before we leave since most of the initial miles are interstate anyway.
