Two days ago I opened the driver door to get something out while my R1T was sitting quiescently in the garage and plugged in. The moment I opened the door the center screen went blood red and started a countdown to call the police due to my "collision." I had only a few seconds to cancel the call, which I did, and everything seemed normal again.
Just an hour ago we were sitting in a restaurant and my wife remembered she needed something out of the truck, so I unlocked the doors from my phone app and out she went. About 30 seconds later she comes running into the restaurant saying the screen was red again and someone was talking through the speakers. Turns out it was someone from Rivian, and they had called the local police (Vail, Colorado) to "help with my collision." A few minutes later the police arrived, where I humbly showed my ID and did my best to convince law enforcement that the truck was "having a moment" and all was well.
Soft reboot did nothing, as it happened again after dinner immediately upon unlocking the doors.
Everything else seems fine, but I did receive a "Driver Assistance not working" (or something like that) upon putting the truck in D.
I've searched on the forum for "Collision Detection" but can't find anything relevant to what just happened. I'll call Rivian in the morning, but has anyone else had a similar experience?

That is an odd one, never heard anyone report that before. Must be a bad sensor, you should open a ticket. They should be able to pull data from the logs. Try to give them the dates and times to look for.

As mentioned above, it's most likely a bad sensor and not a wiring fault. I can't speak for Rivian, but most crash sensors have power, ground and and a digital output signal that indicates when a crash occurs. If the wiring was bad, it should indicate a fault, not a crash.

Oh wow - that’s a new one! Fortunately it’s only happening when you open the door and not when you’re not around! Let us know the resolution…

There is something seriously wrong with the sensor suite of these Gen 2's. The number of strange sensor errors people have been having is frightening.
