Just got my Dallas First Mile invite today for 4/27. Glad to see they are still rolling out.

For reference - I reserved in early July 2021, R1T Adventure Package, anticipated delivery Oct-Dec 2022.
My reservation and delivery date are earlier than yours, no email.

One of the specialists for my test drive told me this first test drive round was meant to cover the north portion of DFW so maybe that is why you did not get an invite?

Had my first mile test drive today, and wow these things are indeed quite quick lmao. It “felt” considerably faster than my Model Y Performance. I found the sound of the motors while driving to be super cool, and spaceship-like. Sound system seemed to be very solid. Probably a bit better than my experience in Teslas so far (which I find to be very good). To me, there’s a very respectable amount of storage space throughout the vehicle, considering the bed robs some potential space that you’d get in say an R1S, or an SUV of a similar size. The UI was super snappy as most others have mentioned recently, although yeah the camera quality is a little “meh”. The birds eye view was nice to have though! Overall, I had a great experience, although no new info regarding my timeline/build unfortunately. Now I just need July-Sep to hurry up and get here!

(Also, all the little specks in the images are rain drops. The sun just started peeking out for my test drive time )

Did they give you the truck that has the same build you have on pre-order? Or it is only a general build?
I got an invite for first-mile drive 2 days ago here in the Seattle area and was wondering if they will bring the truck that will match my build :)

Seems to have been just whatever they had available in my case. The one they brought was LG, BM, with the black 20” AT wheels. My current pre-order config is Limestone, OC, and the regular 20” AT wheels, so almost the complete opposite haha.

Had my first mile test drive this morning! It sounds like they have two trucks that they are using for the first mile drives - a LG on 20s and a LA Silver on 22s. I got the LA Silver on 22s. Sounds like the Rivian employee is doing a few more today in Allen, and one in Frisco - so definitely seems like northern suburbs for now.

I really can't say much more than what has already been said a million times. It was amazing, and I loved every bit of it. Having never driven an EV before, the regen/1 pedal driving is a new experience, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. One feature I hadn't previously thought about much that I liked was the "Hold" feature when you are sitting at a stop light - no need to sit with a foot on the brake like you would in an ICE vehicle. The navigation was also much better than expected - no lags at all. I also loved the glass roof - with the ability to pre-condition if it has been sitting out for awhile, I don't think the Texas sun will be an issue at all.

All told - some of the minor complaints I've heard just seem really insignificant compared to how good this vehicle is. We have a 2021 Tahoe that is a really nice vehicle (and at a very comparable price point to pre-price increase), and the R1T blows it out of the water in every way that matters from what I could tell in 45 minutes.

Same! Reserved for the 27th as well. I placed my pre-order in November of 2021 and am also currently Oct-Dec 2022
@frostbit3 Did you finish your test drive? What did you think? Did you get the LA Silver on 22s as well?

Not yet, scheduled for 1PM so I've got just a little bit longer to go

Got back from my test drive, absolutely loved it. It was the LA Silver on 22's and it was awesome. Very impressed with it and the fit and finish was even better than I was expecting. Now it's going to make the wait even harder haha

I drove by the Dallas temporary service center (on Peeler St) today and they had just dropped off 2 LA Silvers. Honestly looked better than expected close up. Almost made me want to switch from LG. I'm debating, but also trying to not touch my reservation any more in hopes it gets to me ASAP.

I feel the same way, I had a Silver Camaro when they came out in 2010 but I never really cared for the color after a few months. The silver on the Rivian looks really nice though, I liked it a lot. I've got mine set to Glacier white right now but the one I'm seriously considering is Red Canyon, I just really want to see it in person first
