This makes sense in an ICE vehicle where emissions are affected by the setting, but it's silly to force the setting reset upon an EV owner.
It affects efficiency (MPGe vs MPG), so I don't really see a difference. My I-Pace doesn't stay in sport mode when I restart the car for the same reason.

MPGe isn't really an important metric.

Not sure what this resetting is supposed to protect other than the manufacturer from people who may say "hey it seems like I get less range in sport mode!" and it sounds like the manufacturers aren't asking for that either.

I have a different concern. I park in a low garage both at home and at work, and on normal height, its a close call at the office garage and a definite collision of the antenna at home (old house, old garage... an SUV didn't exist in 1920). I always have to put my R1S in "low" before I enter the garages, and when I go to leave, it first tries to raise to standard height when I hit the brake pedal to turn on the car, then it does it again when I switch to reverse, then it tries to override a third time if I hit the brakes while reversing out of the garage. So 3 times I have to select "low" or I'm getting a busted antenna. That's not cool at all.
